Movie Reviews of Dan in Real LifeMovie Review: Steve Carell officially a hero Summary: 5 Stars
The more I watch Steve in movies, the funnier he becomes. I loved this movie for the following reasons:
1 Its genuinely funny, original and light-hearted
2 The acting is great and the characters are represented by perfectly chosen actors/actresses. They all play their respective parts amazingly well and the directors could not have picked better actors.
3 The setting and atmosphere were superb. A wooden lodge out in the country for a warm and highly desired family reunion for the world's most chilled and loving family. You almost wish you belonged to the family.
4 The music is great and I look forward to getting the soundtrack.
All of the above in combination means a great film where you can sink away from reality, really enjoy it and laugh. Excellent plot to round it all up.
Not classically a chic flick...
If you're looking for a good movie on a quiet night in with pizza... enjoy this to the maximum, ita awesome. Its also one to own.
Movie Review: Dan in Real Life by Brandon M. Moskos Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite movies. This movie really shows that no matter what you plan in life, you should always plan to be surprised. Steve Carell plays "Dan" a widowed father of 3 daughters who is having trouble raising the girls on his own. He is so bitter about his life and love that he takes this bitterness out on his kids and family. They take a trip to a family reunion, and he soon meets a woman in a bookstore. He connects really well with the woman and soon he finds instant happiness. As he returns to the family reunion, he finds out this woman is actually his brother's girlfriend. Dan and this woman can't control their sparks and connection and they soon fall in love. People might be negative toward this movie because the story is outrageous, but it shows that connection and spark you can have with somebody and how love can bring happiness to your life. Steve Carell is great as always. He proves he can work the drama movies, as well as the comedies. I recommend buying this movie, It is very good!
Movie Review: Steve Carell at his best....you gotta see this movie Summary: 5 Stars
Steve Carell plays a columnist who is sort of a "Dear Abby" to his faithful readers. His ideas and advice are well known and helpful to his readers and followers of his book, but in "real life" he is a single dad trying to raise three daughters. His "real life" is not so good.
Carell plays the part of Dan Burns, a writer and a father, who is trying to do the right thing by his daughters. He takes his kids to the annual family get together where he meets a woman at a bookstore. It's clear there is a connection, but there is a problem......he finds out she's dating his brother. His parents, brothers, sisters, inlaws, etc...are all quirky and Dan tries to deal with the angst of knowing he's falling in love with his brother's girlfriend.
The movie is funny at times and heartwarming at other times. It's a great movie that will make you laugh, tear up, think and cheer. I'm glad I rented this movie and I can't recommend it enough. Rent this movie! (or buy it!).
Movie Review: This move really made me a Steve Carell fan Summary: 5 Stars
I have always been on the fence regarding Steve Carell but after this movie and Evan Almighty (which they say bomb - great kid movie) I am a Fan. This movie Dan is a single parent of 3 daughters - 2 that are teenagers. He takes his family to the annual family reunion and it feels so real - you just feel for the poor guy. He thinks he has meet the a great women while in town (he is a widow) and then finds out it is his kid brother new girlfriend. If you have ever been to a family reunion or from a big family you will laugh at this movie. Enjoy!
I would also suggest; The Family Stone (Full Screen Edition) and Because I Said So (Full Screen Edition)
Movie Review: A Delightful Time! Summary: 5 Stars
Looking for a movie that is funny, engaging, and clean and gets you thinking? If so, "Dan In Real Life" is it! Dan (Steve Carell) is an advice columnist who, despite the help he provides to his readers, is floundering as a single parent raising three daughters. When they head to a Rhode Island beachfront cottage for an extended family vacation, things really get tangled. Sent by his mother to get the newspaper, this widower meets Marie (Juliette Binoche) in the book section. They are immediately attracted to each other. Upon his return to the cottage, Dan finds that Marie is his brother's new girl friend. You can imagine, well no, you really can't, where this all leads. I better not give more details so as not to ruin it for you, but trust me, you will emphasize with the characters, share their moods and have an overall delightful time.
