Movie Review: And Justice For All
Summary: 3 Stars
This season shows a decrease in the quality of the show.
First, the shooting of Bobby, much like the shooting of JR raises some questions like why doesn't Ewing Oil have security guards or cameras. Are we to believe that the Ewings can't afford it or just don't care. Anyone can walk into the Ewing Oil offices anytime and pull a gun and shoot someone.
Secondly, the assailant in both cases is the sister in law of the victim; Kristen in the case of JR's shooting and Katherine in the case of Bobby. Thirdly; When, the prime suspect is Cliff we have air-tight security surrounding him, but when Katherine confesses coming down the courhouse steps she skips bail and nobody makes any effort to find her.
Next point: The Trial of Jenna Wade; Jenna Wade shooting Naldo Marchetta is self defense. Period - end of story.
Naldo is a drug dealer, con artist, thief and kidnapper. He deserved it!!! He kidnapped a woman and her daughter, forced the woman to marry him, attempted to rape her, held her hostage at gunpoint and we still have to bear this whole trial story line as if Jenna Wade were a cold blooded assassin who killed poor innocent Marchetta. Then there is the question that if Jenna Wade shot this guy, how the Hell does she cloroform herself first? If Naldo has her at gunpoint and has gotten to Laredo without cloroforming her then why all of a sudden would he get the urge to do so in Laredo? What about the daughter? Why is nobody looking for "Charlie" ? She's completely missing until Veronica shows up to get her $50,000 ransom and then the viewers get a clear view of her license so why is her license not traced? She has the daughter in custody which makes her an accessory to kidnapping. But...we rely on Veronica's good will and good nature to come to Dallas to testify which gets her killed which naturally just happens to be on video. Bobby pays kidnappers $50,000 ransom and the real killer a hefty Swiss bank account for his wife to confess. Clearly, Bobby Ewing's generosity is overwhelming. This is one case where Bobby should've enlisted the assistance of his older brother.
The whole story line is botched up from the beginning. Jenna should've have been freed or maybe sent to a hospital to check her out and then have Naldo investigated off screen and tie it up when they find out that Naldo had been contacted by Katherine who also tried to kill Bobby and we have an open and shut case and far less tedious than that whole courtroom drama nonsense. The whole courtroom scenario is a case built upon maybes, ifs and or buts. Clearly neither side seems ready to go to court and a more thorough investigation should've been conducted before we even get to court. We have a dead man found in a hotel room and a woman, his hostage found unconcious nearby with a gun. A guest has reported the shooting but no one heard anything. Clearly, a trial is premature. To add insult to injury after all of this, Jenna changes her mind about the wedding just in time to let Bobby get back together with "that Barnes woman" and just in time for Bobby to get himself killed by his sister in law (again) and to be resurrected at the end of next season(9). A little reality is a beautiful thing and often makes for more entertaining television.

Dallas fans just can't get enough of the Ewings. So Season 8 brings a new one - cousin Jamie Ewing, a blonde, blue-eyed little ol' cupcake with a big, fat claim on the oil empire. And it brings a new face: Oscar? Academy Award winner* Donna Reed stepping gracefully into Miss Ellie's high heels while an ailing Barbara Bel Geddes recovers. And, of course, it brings a gusher of high-tension, high-finance drama: three corpses, one murder trial, weddings, breakups, adultery, medical traumas, kidnapping, lies, long-forgotten secrets and sudden wealth. That's not all, not by a Texas Longhorn shot. The season ends with that dynamic Dallas classic, a wow-did-you-see-that cliffhanger.Drama DVD Video
