This complete guide to learning traditional Irish button accordion will get you started playing tunes right away-the right way! You'll learn how to hold the accordion and sound your first scales, bass notes, chords and arpeggios. Before you know it, you'll be navigating around the keyboard and performing your first songs.John Williams teaches you five traditional Irish tunes, breaking them into easy-to-learn sections and demonstrating each one at both slow and moderate tempos so you can play along with him. As you master each song you'll learn the use of the air button, and how to play scales in triplets, waltz rhythm, bass accompaniment and multiple notes on one bellows direction using a variety of fingering techniques. The piping regulator style (drone-like chords as rhythmic ornaments) and the standard five-note roll will add depth and color to your traditional repertoire.
Songs include Oro (Se Do Bheatha Bhaile), Saddle the Pony, Napoleon Crossing the Rhine, Sporting Nellie and Sally Gardens. NOTE: This DVD explains the general logic of diatonic button accordions and the popular two-row accordion in B-C tuning specifically.
