Movie Reviews of Cyborg

Movie Review: Excellent Film, No other Actor will compare to Van Damme
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie "Cyborg" made around 5 million dollars,
not much money, but this is the film that made Jean
Claude Varenberg [Van Damme]. The plot takes place in
the future in where a band of Renegades want a destroyed
Earth under the leadership of their leader called "Fender".

...[plot spoiler]... The fight scenes are fresh, and exciting to watch. Jean Claude Van Damme(Varenberg) was like around 26 years of age when he did this film(1987). He was actually placed in the spot light, by late night talk show host "Arsenio Hall". Arsenio Hall was the one who exposed him in the media sphere thru his show for fans too know of this charismatic man. He was labeled "The muscles of Brussels" due to his physic whom many females admired.
The movie is really action packed(super fight scenes between Van Damme and Fender and the Henchmen), and lets not forget the background music-very modern, chaotic, and futuristic.
One might think that the movie might need more lines, but this is not a love story, but a story of survival, in where hatred and destruction are rampant. It takes place in the future in a destroyed Earth. The Movie is recommended to any one who reads this Review. I have seen some of his other films such as "Lionheart", "Legionaire", and "Desert Heat". But this is his best work. His English is not the best, but his accent and enthusiasm, his energy easily makes the reporter understand what he is saying. He works hard to be fluent. Regardless of the Critics who say not so nice of him; Van Damme is Immortal. Many in the scene have tried to imitate him, it has failed.
One more thing Cyborg 2 does not have Van Damme, Cyborg 2 is no good. Van Damme is featured on the cover of the film titled "Cyborg".

Movie Review: A look into the life of a cyborg
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is a keen look into what happens when the earth becomes ridden with strange plagues and murderous thieves that for some reason love to sport chainmail. The main plot is that some bionic cyborg chick has to get this cure to atlanta to save the world from the plague. She about gets ruined by a chainmail sporting murderous thief named fender and his merry henchmen. She only about gets ruined because Van Damme comes and saves her. Van Damme in this movie wields a sword which is pretty cool considering it's the future and they should have phasers or spazers or lazers or something to the effect. Old school just works best sometimes. So they get away and then van damn starts having all these punisher like(the comic not that god awful movie) flashbacks where a gang kills his family. The gang just happens to be fender the chainmail sporting murderous thiefs gang which is also the gang that was curently pursueing them. How ironic! So later they meet up with this hot chick who you see naked when she gos to bath in the ocean. Wowzers!!!! Van Damme gets all close with her and stuff and then he gets crucified and finds his daughter is in fender the chainmail sporting murderous thiefs gang. So Van Damme gets all determined and go's and gets all strong and go's to fight fender the chainmail sporting murderous thief. What happens then?!?!? You'll have to watch to find out. I am a cyborg so I really appriciate this flick. It's a good view into the life of your everyday bionic cyborg. Ah...how I miss the days when I was human.

Movie Review: blade-wielding classic
Summary: 5 Stars

the more i see this movie, the more i enjoy it.its one of those movies that never get old.
canniballistic pirates,sword-slinging heroes,and one info-gathering cyborg.all set in a mad-max like future.
the villain (fender) is as original as they come, covering his insanely white eyes behind a mask of silver-lenses.resoundingly demonic as he curses at everyone he meets, and occasionally stopping to philosophise on the world or rant out morbid comedy.
the hero on the other hand is hellbent on destroying fender at any price after costing him his family.he couldn't care less about what is going on in the outside world, what with an apparent plague sweeping it.he just wants to rip open his arch-nemesis.and with the many styles of blades in this barbaric thrill-ride,there are various ways to do it.
more steel than bullets in this film, for the true weapons-afficianado,and loads of martial arts kicking whoop-ass,since its essentially the"Dammage's"movie.
yes,its a western,an eastern,and medieval as all getout.
not many action/fantasy movies take place on the shores of the east coast, and since i live close to that area,it makes this film all the more enjoyable.if you are into post nuclear wasteland warrior movies, like steeldawn,or beowulf, you will enjoy this.

Movie Review: Stupendously awful
Summary: 5 Stars

Cyborg is perhaps one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The acting is bad even for a Van Damme film, the sets are terribly forced and the plot is simply pointless. You will gain nothing from watching this movie. Even the fight scenes aren't nearly as well choreographed as in Bloodsport or Kick-Boxer. Plus it lacks an old Asian man to show our hero the way to defeat young and muscular Asian men (see Bloodsport, Kick-Boxer and The Quest).

So why did I give it five stars? The truth about this movie is that no more than one minute into it you are hooked. It is like a train wreck and you cannot turn away until the full hour and twenty-six minutes have passed. It isn't even that you are entertained, but more like in a trance. Part of your mind says, "why am I watching this? Turn it off" while the other says, "OK that had to be the worst scene in the movie so the next will be better, right?" Wrong. The ending (I won't spoil it) is beyond corny and is the capstone on the movie.

It must be mentioned that in this movie, Jean Claude pretends he is Jesus. Jesus Claude, unlike the other Jesus, found an almost miraculous way off his crucifix. You simply have to see it to believe it. Do not spend more than eight dollars on this movie, new.

Movie Review: THE MOST INTENSE CULT ACTION MOVIE EVER MADE!
Summary: 5 Stars

Jean Claude Van Damme has been smashed by critics throughout his career, but the bashing of Cyborg is crossing that fine line. If you are a Van Damme fan, then this is a must by dvd...beyond a doubt.

This movie has all the makings of a cult classic: Engrossing characters, post apocalyptic plot lines, and a conflict between good and evil. The movie alone is worth watching for the final battle between Fender(Vincent Klyn) and Gibson Rickenbacker(Van Damme). It is the epitome of action movie battles, and immortalizes this fine production in the annals of martial arts/action history.

But hold on, the rest of the movie is just as good! Cyborg roars on the 5.1 dolby and the resolution is fantastic. When Fender removes his sunglasses on dvd, you will jump!

So, fan of Action or not; Fan of Van Damme or not, this movie deserves the respect and publicity it never received. It takes a great villian to make a great hero, and Fender is the best villain character to come along since...well...ever! Cyborg is a cult sleeper that you have to see to believe!
