Movie Review: A Great DVD! (over, and over, and over again)
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great acheivement for the band, and a great acheivement technologically speaking as well! A few random thoughts...- Metallica is an awesome live band, and some of their songs actually sound BETTER live. Given the complexity of their music, that is pretty damn amazing. So What, Creeping Death, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Last Caress, Am I Evil? and a few others are really enhanced by the extra energy of a live performance.
- James's voice is worn out, but I didn't find it distracted from the quality of the DVD. He doesn't sound BAD, but the wear and tear is clear.
- The best part about concert DVDs is the replay value. I have watched Cunning Stunts several times, so even if you aren't a die-hard fan, it definately pays off to pick up a copy.

This DVD has excellent video and sound quality. No VHS tape can ever measure up to it... As for the content, Metallica are excellent as usual, although as an old fan I would have preferred a gig of their golden years (Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets era), but that kind of technology didn't exist back then :-(. The bonus materials and menus are great, the only let-down is that the boring 2 channel sound is selected by default, and add insult to injury, you have to change to DD5.1 by accessing the menu (my 'audio' button on my remote doesn't work with this DVD)!!! Why this was done so poorly I'll never know... Anyway, I hope that this is the way of the future, every band should watch and follow suit with similar releases!Movie Review: review from a 65 year old jazz musician

I rented the video, and I like live concerts---I just got my home theater up and running, and if you would like to be at a Metallica concert without actually being there, this has to be it--- I do not like hard rock, but this video is a tour de force----everything from fireworks to you name it---and a lot of special features----get the two disc set---not one of the separate parts---highly recommended, well recorded sound, and lighting, and a real theatrical performance by these rockers-my hats are off to them, and I do now respect their artistry more---after watching the two video discs in the set----If you are a Metallica fan and don't have this, go out and buy a home theater just for this one set :)Movie Review: DVD or VHS. Hell it is Metallica they both rule.

Ok metallica is by far the best band in the world. I own the DVD and VHS of Cunning Stunts. If you just have a VCR get the VHS cause well it is metallica and they are good on any format. The VHS edition is just the concert on the tape. It is a superb concert and sounds excellent on the stereo. If you have a DVD player and have not gotten the DVD edition. DO SO. It has the superb concert that is shown on the VHS tape and they threw in alot of bells and whistles like behind the scenes and different angles so you can watch any of the bandmembers you want for the whole song. (This is only on 3 songs probably due to the large amount of DVDs required to do all songs) Either way get one or the other dammit!Movie Review: Some Concert !!! The Best Infact !!!

This is the first time i have seen a Metallica concert at full length and it is simply great infact the concert is shot for the DVD format ..the menus are great and the behind the scenes footage the best part is the destruction scene which happens somewhere in the middle 'enter sandman'..with this guy hanging loose people running about with FireE's...and the pics to ...about a 1000 of them ..but the only thing is that you have to get into the sound and change it to AC-3..other wise right from the band playing 'so what' till 'motorbreath' the whole thing is just cool..and not forgetting the explosions in one and creeping death ...to end it...its a great DVD !!!..... 'TALLICA RULEZ
