Movie Reviews of Crunch - Candlelight Yoga

Movie Review: Relaxing, not too long, not too short
Summary: 5 Stars

I have done Sara Ivanhoe's Crunch Yoga for several years and like it. I purchased this just to expand yoga routines and to have something to do before bedtime. I'm not disappointed. This is definitely not advanced yoga -- but either am I. Sara is encouraging, simple and direct in her explanations, and has a pleasant sounding voice. I like the emphasis on breath which other yoga videos often forget. My only complaint is that they surely could have found someone over 30 to participate in the video. An older person could easily do this route and could have served as an "inspiration" for those of us over 50. I will say that even though the video is cast with beautiful young faces (and bodies) their poses are not perfect -- several of them do the modified versions. For someone looking for a simple routine, this could serve as a great introduction or as a nice change from more advanced routines.

Movie Review: One of the best yoga DVDs by the best yoga instructor - Sara Ivanhoe
Summary: 5 Stars

I have bought several yoga DVDs over the years - none I like as much as anything I own with Sara Ivanhoe. This one in particular... After a stressful day, (much like a lot of days), nothing relaxes me as much as this workout - well that and a glass of wine. :-)

It really is a lot of stretching, breathing and simple poses - great for beginners as well. I also suffer from some lower back pain and I find that this particular workout does not aggrevate the condition.

Sara is such a calm and patient instrctor, always providing modified poses and urging you to go at your own pace - not to force yourself ever.

I urge you to consider Sara Ivanhoe over all other yoga instructors on tape. In particular, pick this up if you are in need of incorporating a relaxing workout into your exercise regime - you will not regret it.

Movie Review: Simple and Relaxing
Summary: 5 Stars

I think this DVD is a perfect 'starter' for someone who wants to get into yoga. I consider myself a yoga novice, so I really appreciated the DVDs unpretentious, casual approach. I have both this and the 'joy of yoga' and actually prefer this DVD for a couple reasons:

1) flow. the movements in this DVD seem well put together. they naturally fit with one another and seem to compliment the other poses in the routine.

2) timing. the instructor, Sara Ivanhoe, does a better job in this DVD of keeping the time for each 'side' balanced and equal.

3) breathing. this DVD focuses more on breathing than the others, which I think is a great place to start in yoga.

The only thing I'm not wild about is the music; it's a bit much in that you can 'feel' how much it's supposed to relax you, but I just tune it out!

Movie Review: Quite a title, quite a video
Summary: 5 Stars

I had started doing yoga for about 3 weeks when I bought this video, thinking it might be a great start to my yoga dvd library. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started it, but by the middle of it, I felt incredibly relaxed and was very happy with my purchase! I thought that Sara did a great job explaining the asanas, and the modifications to be used if you're rather inflexible. I especially appreciated the reminders to just relax throughout the workout- great for someone like me who tends to try to do too much all at once- to include pushing my body to the limit. Other viewers might find this annoying, but I found it a welcome necessity for a video designed for destressing and relaxing! I would highly recommend this video! If you're reading this review, stop now and just buy it! You will be glad that you did!

Movie Review: Great Restorative YOGA program
Summary: 5 Stars

Ok, I don't know which dvd the reviewer was watching when she said that there were Fuchia mats and a beautiful set, but it wasn't this one. Don't get me wrong, I love the DVD, but the mats are purple, there are candles but the lights are not dimed even a bit. So, why the candles? I expected the lights to be very low with just the candlelight to do the workout with. The set looks like a basketball court. But with that said there is plenty to keep you buzy with this DVD. The moves are a bit harder than they look and the Energizer workout really does work. This has benefits for all skill levels. I truly believe that a yoga dvd library must have many different types of yoga workouts for different days and different situations. I do love this DVD and appreciate the stress relief candelight yoga workout.
