Movie Reviews of Crossroads

Movie Review: Better than I remembered!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie came out when I was 13 years old, and I remember watching it like it was last week. I recall my favorite scene involving Steve Via tearing it up on stage. Now I'm 35 years old, and over the past year or two, I've been taking guitar classes focusing on the Blues Guitar, it's American history, and some of the masters that created and played this wonderful music. I just purchased and watched this movie for the first time in over 20 years, and now, having a little knowledge of the history of the Blues, this movie is even more enjoyable than ever! Now my favorite scene involves Ralph Macchio tearing it up on stage. I'm not going to go into the details of the movie - but if you're a fan of the Blues Guitar, Blues Harp, or any of it's history - this is a must see! Plus, it's always entertaining to watch a movie made in the 80's once in a while, isn't it? I highly recommend this one!

Movie Review: A Must See
Summary: 5 Stars

If you enjoy good music, this movie is for you. There have been alot of scathing comments about casting Ralph "The Karate Kid " Macchio" as the main hero of this movie, but it is still none the less brilliant. Most definatly a movie ahead of it's time, the whole musical score of this movie is amazing. From the classical guitar rifts to the Delta Blues, and the rocking performance by Steve Vai, this movie is a class for Music Appreciation all by itself!!!! The story line is brilliant as well. There is just enough fact mixed with fiction to make one want to dig deeper into what really happened to Robert Johnson. I highly recommend this movie. There are many things to love about this one, so even if you don't like one aspect of it, the music alone can carry this movie into being one of your favorites.

Movie Review: If you play guitar...
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie does for guitar what "Bend It Like Beckham" did for soccer. A lot of this movie might be called trite wishful thinking, but it's a wonderful fantasy if you're a guitar player. Every time I watch the guitar duel between Macchio and Steve Vai I get a hairy buzz. My fourteen-year-old put the whole movie on his ipod and then cut the duel out and put it under a separate heading. He's got his classmates enthralled, because they somehow missed the movie. Maybe their dads don't play guitar, maybe they didn't see the movie when it came out. It highlights the Malmsteenish possibilities of classical music transformed via electric guitar. Now I'm definitely going to buy a Steve Vai concert dvd and pay more attention to his Favored Nations label.

Movie Review: Road school in delta blues
Summary: 5 Stars

Crossroads is an inspiring movie for all musicians. The character eugene martone has the passion for the blues but is torn by two masters. The blues and classical. By following his real calling he finds the one and only blind dog fulton(willie brown played by joe seneca) to help him record the 30th song that was missing on Robert Johnsons texas sessions. Although willie brown has his own reason to go back to the crossroads, eugene gets the mileage necessary to become the true bluesman he claims to be. The cast is solid and the music is amazing. Much coodos to Ry cooder and Steve Vai. I never get tired of watching this movie. I would highly recommend to all music enthusiast young and old.

Movie Review: I love blues...
Summary: 5 Stars

All these kids that listing to that nu-metal and emo and rap trash need to drop that and start listining to some good old original blues. "Crossroads" is an excellent movie both Macchio and seneca plays their roles very well and being fan of both ? It was only right for me to own this great movie. Ralph macchio is a very good actor that doesn't get the respect he should and i know this because i've seen the 1983 made for tv movie he did called "the three wishes of Billy grier" which he plays a teen-ager that is aging very fast... Ofcourse karate kid is also a good movie and his other flicks distand thunder, too much sun, naked in ny, up the academy and few others.
