Movie Reviews of Crossing Delancey

Movie Review: A very good flick...
Summary: 4 Stars

A well-acted romantic comedy starring the solid Amy Irving and the fantastic Peter Riegert. Riegert has a recurring role on Law and Order:SVU and was hilarious in Stallone's 20's crime comedy, Oscar. The guy is a fantastic actor and should be seen with far more regularity.

The movie is well-paced and thoughtful. The characters are allowed to develop and the supporting players' roles are critical to the outcome of the movie.

This is one of the better examples of the romantic comedy genre...

Movie Review: A little predictable but very nice
Summary: 4 Stars

Amy Irving gives a first rate performance here, rising above an almost formulaic role, to make us genuinely care about her. And Peter Reigert is right there with her, underplaying the part of the pickle man so charmingly that we really want him to win her. All of the supporting cast are very good too. The script is, well, predictable but there are enough nice details to keep us interested. All in all, a very good production of what could have been a sentimental mess in less careful hands.

Movie Review: Charming
Summary: 4 Stars

A charming, unpretentious little gem, which is even better if you know New York City. Don't expect the comedic heights of classics like Bringing Up Baby or Adam's Rib, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Fun soundtrack. Just enjoy.

A modern day love story to be sure. You've got to love the Bubby, the matchmaker and the nice pickle man. Nice guys do finish last when women finally realize that they deserve somebody nice...

Movie Review: Crossing Delancey DVD
Summary: 4 Stars

A well-made and pleasant romantic comedy with fine acting by all, especially Amy Irving, who's always excellent. The 1.85:1 picture is sharp and enhanced.
