Movie Reviews of Crossing Delancey

Movie Review: You don't need two X chromosomes to love this movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not a romantic-comedy person, and neither is my husband, but we've both long been fans of this film. The characters are quirky and fun, and it leaves you with a big grin on your face. The grandmother is played by a star of the old Yiddish theater. And you haven't lived until you've seen Sylvia Miles in her matchmaker role. I've been champing at the bit waiting for Crossing Delancey to come out on DVD. Yay!

Movie Review: Been waiting forever for DVD!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I still can't figure out why. Is it Amy Irving's ethereal beauty? Do I associate with the conflict between tradition and wanting to carve my own niche? Is it the natural performances and relaxed production values? I don't know, but I highly recommend this movie; I've always described it as the Yiddish version of "Moonstruck". Can't wait to see it again!

Movie Review: This movie is wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is wonderful! Amy Irving is great as Isabella, a very modern career woman who thinks the traditional values of her grandmothers jewish heritage are out of touch. Until she meets Sam, Peter Riegert is so convincing in this role of a hard working jewish business owner who has been wanting to meet Isabella.I have probably watched this movie 100 times and I still love it.Definetly a chic flick.

Movie Review: One of my top 5 favorite movies!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie, and my affection for it has not waned even after seeing it more than 20 times. It is such a lovely story about simple living, about what true love really is, and about what's most important in life. It's also very funny, and the footage of New York is an added bonus. They just don't make movies like this any more. Highly recommended.

Movie Review: Do you like to laugh?
Summary: 5 Stars

I waited a long time for this movie to come out on DVD so I could own it. It has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it in the theater. I love ethnic New York City movies and this one is on a par with "Moonstruck." The characters are right out of the Jewish neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens. Be ready to laugh - a lot!
