Movie Reviews of Crimes and MisdemeanorsMovie Review: situational ethics under scrutiny Summary: 5 Stars
I had read only great reviews about this film from all quarters, and then was asked to teach it to high school students. It was in this context that I discovered how all pieces of this amazing film fit together--no mean feat since it combines New York stories, autobiogrpahical in-jokes, a scathing critique of the film industry, murder, religious idealism, and glances into the existentialist abyss. This is an essential work for any serious collector, whether or not you like Woody Allen.
Movie Review: Brilliant Blend of Comedy and Drama; Thought-Provoking Summary: 5 Stars
The writing, acting, direction and editing are fantastic. This is one of Allen's masterpieces--if you like Allen, thought-provoking films, and great performance that rare blend of successful humor, tragedy, and the ironies of life--don't miss it. Martin Landau gives such a memorable performance--truly deserved his Oscar. A true classic.
Movie Review: Another Great Woody Allen Film Summary: 5 Stars
This film ranks among Woody's best: Annie Hall, Manhattan, Deconstructing Harry, Hannah and Her Sisters, Interiors, and Stardust Memories Amazing performances by the entire cast. Great writing and direction. Give it a watch and you'll love it.
Movie Review: very true to human life Summary: 5 Stars
A serious film and a great film. Depicts what all to often happens to carying people when the emotions are allowed to take over. Avoiding these pitfalls enables good people to stay good people.
Movie Review: Best film of 5 Stars
This is Woody's best and the best film of 1989. How Driving Miss Daisy won the Oscar and this wasn't even nominated is beyond me.
