Movie Reviews of Creepshow (Snap Case Packaging)

Movie Review: "Thats the ticket!"
Summary: 5 Stars

Ah... Creepshow. If I were to describe Creepshow in one word I would say;"Excellent". Although I have discovered that many of my "friends" dislike the movie (they consider it stupid). It all depends on your taste. If you're like me and like ridiculous movies then you would like Creepshow.

Basically, Creepshow is a comic book that comes to life. There are five stories(six if you count the opening story). My favorite stories are "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verell" and "The Crate". To this day I still belive that "The Crate" is by far the scariest. "Jordy Verell" is awesome because, Stephen King is the star. I think he is hilarious. Basically, he plays a stupid bumpkin. One segment I wouldn't recommend people who dislike bugs to watch is the last one ("They're creeping up on you")

DVD FEATURES:
The transfer is not the best, but I rarely notice. The transfer shouldn't hold you back from buying the DVD. Although it only has the theatrical trailer,it does come with both widescreen and full screen format on the same disk, which makes it better than VHS.

In conclusion,I think Creepshow is a fantastic movie and if you haven't seen it you should give it a try. "That's the ticket!"

Movie Review: Creepshow ROCKS!!!!!!...The Best Movie of the 80s
Summary: 5 Stars

Creepshow is a well made horror/comedy from writer Stephen King and director George Romero. The movie is five tales about a man rising from dead wanting revenge,a dumb farmer(King) that had a meteorite landing on his farm and then turning him into a plant and his whole farmland turns the color green,a millionare buries a man on the beach and him and his dead girlfriend come back and take their revenge,a monster in a crate, and a professor and his loathe of cockroaches. Each tale is well made and well directed though the third one is the weakest the last one is the best. The movie is directed like a comic book with red and blue lighting in the scenes looking like a comic and there is cartoon segments. Anchor Bay needs to release a special edition just like they did with Creepshow 2(Decent sequel). The VHS version is the best way to watch while the DVD is bare-bones and fans complain the picture and transfer is terrible. The cast is good and includes E.G. Marshall,Adrienne Barbeau,Ted Danson,Leslie Nielsen,Hal Holbrook,Ed Harris, and Stephen King. Every horror/comedy fan should have Creepshow in their collection.

Movie Review: Good Horror Fun
Summary: 5 Stars

The collabaration between Stephen King and George A. Romero really works in this horror classic. King's screenplay with Romero's direction makes this a fine piece of work or works if you want to call it that. The dvd is terrible, but I'm reviewing the movie not the dvd. The first story is a good revenge story. Ed Harris plays one of the victims. The second is kind of depressing. King is great as an actor and this role was meant to be played by him. The third story is a really good revenge story but with a twist. Leslie Nielsen and Ted Danson are great in their role especially Nielsen adding his funny charm to a more dramatic role. The fourth story is the longest and is good but is a little drawn out at times. Hal Holbrook is great as a man who would do anything to get rid of his wife. Adrienne Barbeau is also good as his wife. The fifth is a weird story about a millionaire who puts people down his whole life but is about to pay from the littlest of visitors. E.G. Marshall is great as the millionaire. This movie does have some scary parts but also has alot of funny moments in it. Highly Highly Recommended.

Movie Review: A horror comic book lover's dream
Summary: 5 Stars

Creepshow pays homage to the old E.C. horror comics that caused so much controversy in the 50's and eventually spawned the watchdog group the Comics Code Authority.

George Romero and Stephen King worked together to make this film and their mastery of their craft shows. King wrote 5 solid stories here (some better than others). Romero wrapped them in a comic book style, fever-dream colors, and frenzied artwork backgrounds. The effect is, literally, a film comic book.

Five stories are presented. My personal favorite is "The Crate". Not only does it have the scariest monster and creepiest concept, but it also has amazing performances by Hal Holbrook and Fritz Weaver.

Lots of name stars appear in the film, including Stephen King starring as a country moron in "The Lonesome Death of Jody Verill".

Anyone who has ever gone to a local House of Horrors around halloween and come away disappointed, was probably hoping for an experience like the one that Creepshow delivers. A nightmarish, colorful, disturbing spookfest that sticks with you, even after you turn off your television.
