Movie Reviews of Cowboy Bebop - The Movie

Movie Review: THE BEBOP TROOP IS 5 Stars

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!! I received the dvd with the movie yesterday and watched it 2 times in a row. It was ABSOLUTELY AWSOME. I am a great fan of the series Cowboy Bebop and therefore couldn't wait for this movie to be released here in the US. I had seen some screen shots in some web pages devoted to the anime and the truth is that the entire movie is one big rollercoaster fully packed with action bebop-style. There is a little bit of everthing, just like in the series: fight sequences, music, romance, comedy, tradegy and what for me is a great plus a greater insight of each one of the main characters. Not only are Spike, Faye, Jet, Ed and Ein included, but we are also reunited with most of the regulars that appeared in the series. The state-of-the-art animation is out of this world and on top of all that, the dvd is packed with really nice extras, like interviews with both the Japanese and American casts and picture galleries. Another plus is that the special edition comes with both the original version in Japanese and the dubbed in English, which has been produced with the very same cast of the tv series. So, if you are like me a complete follower of the series Cowboy Bebop and hard-core Japanese animation fan, or if you are into exploring a little bit more of the anime world, this is the perfect movie, YOU WON'T BE And even if you are not into anime and think that all there is to it are cats and mouses, I bet this movie will make you change your view on anime and see that NOT ALL ANIME ARE CREATED EQUAL. . .

Movie Review: a movie that does cb justice
Summary: 5 Stars

i have been a big fan of cowboy bebop for years so i was psyched to hear about the movie. If you have seen the real folk blues part 2 which is the final episode of the series then you know that spike dies after a battle with his old buddy vicious. However the movie is based off the second 3 issue cowboy bebop shooting star series. In it we see our favorite space cowboys(another name for bounty hunters)going after another bounty however the fate of mars rests in their hands. After faye witnesses an explosion on a highway on mars that kills many of the people near it and infects the population with an unknown virus within a couple of mile radius of the explosion faye gets a glimpse of the first person that should've died in the blast walk over the side of the road and dissapear without a trace. Later strange ransom notes left by a hacker are appearing all over mars. The crew of the bebop once again is after another bounty but with the military agencies and other organizations out to keep the truth behind what is really going a secret Spike and the others must solve the mystery before it is too late. They may be in over their heads on this one and as Spike has said many times before this may be the one where he doesn't come back something that speaks true for him and the others. I liked this movie because it is filled with action a good plot and an awesome soundtrack done by seatbelts and the famous Yoko Kanno who's jazzy tunes can be heard in the series and other animes such as wolf's rain and Macross and Great vocals by Mai Yamane.

Movie Review: The Cure for Bebop Withdrawal
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie has been described as an extended-length episode of the clever and well-shot Cowboy Bebop series; an unfair comparison. Knockin' On Heaven's Door, which assuredly takes place somewhere in the middle of the series, follows bounty hunters (or cowboys) Spike, Faye, Jet, Ed and Ein in pursuit of a tremendous 300,000,000 wooloong bounty by the name of Vincent, who has the capacity and drive to remove everyone from the face of the planet. It does sound like just another episode, with raised stakes, but the movie offers more than just that. The art and "camera" movement are much more polished than the series, and the fight scenes (which may be the among if not the best hand-to-hand-to-broom-to-coffee maker combat scenes caught in ink) also reach a higher level of activity and smoothness. The plot isn't convuluted; you'll enjoy it a lot more if you watch at least five or six episodes of the series, but the movie is easy enough to follow and self-supporting.
"_____ the Movie" efforts often take on their own lives, and offer nothing toward the originating series, but Heaven's Door is an exception. The tale perhaps provides some insight into Spike's invulnerability and willingness to enter death or death situations; gives some more color to the "Julia" storyline; and just provides more interaction among the main crew of the Bebop.
Expect many beautifully shot moments to appropriate music, similar to the first Vicious-Spike encounter in the series.

Can't go wrong with it, and is at the least, worth your money.

Movie Review: Why I'd stand in line for 6 hours to see this movie again!
Summary: 5 Stars

First, definitely catch this movie on the big screen if at all possible. Second, buy the soundtrack! It was the "Cowboy Bebop" reputation that convinced me to stand outside in line for 6+ hours at AnimeExpo 2002 last July to catch the first US screening of the new "Cowboy Bebop" movie, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". The results of my wait, as described below made it worth every minute standing in line with guys dressed like Sailor Moon.

This movie took all the enticing elements of the tv series, including the characters, dark humor and irresistable soundtrack and meshed them into a new, stand-alone flick with the cutting-edge animation style deserved. Becoming captivated by Spike's suave methods and personality is only the beginning of the package. Everything about the "Cowboy Bebop" phenomenon just radiates coolness. From the voice acting to the ship designs, the details of this production complement and do justice to this sci-fi/action/comedy/drama animation masterpiece.

"Cowboy Bebop" is not part of any easily defined genre, which takes it to the next level in Japanese animation. For example, sometimes Bebop's action has a 70's kung-fu feel and the personality can be reminiscent of an old western. If I had to choose the best thing about this movie, it would be the amazing characters. Mood and music would be close seconds though.

This movie is defintely anime candy to fans of Japanese animation, but I think it would appeal to anyone who enjoys cool action movies with a taste for something different.

Movie Review: Very Awsome
Summary: 5 Stars

The movie is so awsome. I gave it five stars due to it's awsome soundtrack, and great imagery. The movie takes place between episodes 22 and 23.
It's about a man named Vincent who pretty much wants to infect everyone on Mars with an deadly virus. He somehow survived when it was believed he died during a battle years earlier. The virus makes you see yellow butterflys before you die. The crew of the Bebop stumbles onto this puzzle, due to the bounty they were chasing, (whom Vincent kills) and become unwitingly entangled in this case.
Along the way, Spike meets up with this woman named Electra who is a part of a syndicate also looking for Vincent. She also knows Vincent from a past encounter. Spike constantly gets shot at by her while entering the compound she's in, trying to get information on the virus.
Faye, do to her um......"great" detective work, somehow finds Vincent, and corners him in an apartment only to become infected with the virus. When it seems she is to meet the same fate as their bounty, Vincent administers the cure at the last second. His blood. He leaves soon after.
Between getting shot countless of times, Spike always comes back, and punishes his attackers with twice the force. This movie is great, I loved it, and can't wait until it comes out on DVD. Even people who don't love anime like some of us, will definantly appreciate this movie. It's really worth seeing. Yoko Kanno composing the score, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, what more can you ask for?
