Movie Reviews of Come and SeeMovie Review: Come and See Summary: 5 Stars
Come and See is one of those movies that although you must read the captions because it is a foreign film, you don't even mind because after a few minutes you are so engrossed in the cinematography and story you forget it is not in English.
As a historian and lecturer on historical topics, I can honestly say this is one of the best and most realistic films of the WWII genre. It is ranked up there with Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, and Letters From Iwo Jima.. It is an accurate portrayal of Nazi brutality towards humanity and the overall insanity of warfare in general. A must see....add it to your collection, you'll want to view it more than once.

Movie Review: Innocence Lost Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw parts of Come and See on You Tube-I enjoyed it so much that I purchased the film. I highly recommend this film. The young man that plays the main character does an excellent job-imagine having to carry a gun at such a young age and to have your entire family killed. The war in the east was particularly brutal and the scene at the end where an SS officer tells the partisans that their nation does not deserve to exist is chilling. For folks that enjoy reading or watching films about the Russian Front, Come and See is well worth the time. I would have enjoyed more partisan/German soldier combat scenes but the film was very well done and surreal at times.
Movie Review: Come and See Summary: 5 Stars
Forget what you know about war films: Elem Klimov's scarifying "Come and See" will defy all your expectations and leave its indelible images in your brain forever. Anchored by young Kravchenko's devastating performance, the film examines the atrocities and horror of Germany's occupation of Byelorussia, where Nazis burned more than 600 villages to the ground--along with their inhabitants. Klimov takes this material, penned with war survivor Ales Adamovich, and gives it a very cinematic treatment. With its attention to landscape and human faces, and highly subjective use of color and sound, "Come and See" is a gut-wrenching war drama like no other.
Movie Review: Incredible war/anti-war movie Summary: 5 Stars
I actually purchased this video by accident. I thought it was a different movie. "Come and See" turned out to be one of the most gripping and incredible movies that I've seen, and I've seen a lot! The DVD cover's illustration is from an intense and pivotal scene, and I thought that it should not have been used as the DVD cover. It gives the wrong impression of the movie, and, at the same time, it gives away a plot point. Never-the-less, if you don't mind sub-titles, I heartily recommend this movie for all war movie aficionados, history buffs, Russian students, and anyone who wants to see a non-Hollywood version of World War II.
Movie Review: One of the best war movies ever made Summary: 5 Stars
I just thought I'd add a quick note and say that this is one of the best war movies ever made from ANY country. It's worth seeking out and i'm glad I eventually heard of it. If you like this i'd also suggest Masaki Kobayashi's Human Condition Trilogy. That's probably my #1 favorite War movie and this ranks at #2 or #3.
