Movie Review: Don't Believe The Extra Hype
Summary: 2 Stars
First of all I would like to stress, and I think I am in a minority here, that Color of Night is a awful movie, more so since very talented actors like Bruce Willis, Brad Dourif, Lesley Ann Warren and Eriq La Salle are in it.It would have been much more bearable had some unknown B actors been involved instead, because no matter how great the appeal of the A list names is, Color of Night is an erotic thriller, exactly the same as the hundreds of other films of the genre that litter the video and DVD market.Of course, the only reason this filmed gained such a controversy at its time of release, and indeed why anyone would want to watch it in the first place is for the sex scenes..and the infamous ones that has Willis other talents exposed, with the beautiful and sexy Jane March. Surely, the plot that revolves around a psychologist and his psycho patient,which is usually the standard plot for most erotic thrillers, is not enough to stimulate the interest of any movie lover.
And this is exactly why this DVD version has in big bold letters,the 'exclusive 15 minutes extra hot scenes', too daring to be shown in theatres!! And this is why I am writing this review to draw your attention to the following:
It is a marketing gimmick that yet again I dive straight into, only to be disappointed! (but I am learning!)
Well, yes, there are some extra 'bits and pieces' added that are not quite as daring as you might be lead to believe, and in comparison to any French or Spanish films of late,it looks quite tame.
And yes, included is the lesbian scene between March and Warren which was cut in its entirety for the theatre release.(a quite talked about scene at the time,like as rumours have it the still lost girl-girl scenes of Basic Instinct alledgedly also cut).
Now a word about this scene:(if it can be properly described as scene)
Why it was cut in the first place is a great mystery! and another riddle yet to be solved into the strange workings of censor's mind!It is the tamest and most ridiculous girl-girl kiss I have ever seen..Russian leaders used to kiss each other and some unsuspected poor international visitors for longer and more passionately! and it was filmed for all to see!!If you expect action similar to Bound, A Girl Thing or Monkey's Mask then think again!
And think twice before buying this DVD,if you find the lure of the 'extra hot' too tempting ..If you like Bruce Willis and enjoyed the film, then fine, but just beware of the marketing 'beast' that might very well disappoint you as much as I was.

I bought this video because it's a Bruce Willis movie and I wasn't disappointed at all! I've enjoyed every Bruce Willis movie I've ever seen. Sure, I'm a big Willis fan, but I also loved pretty much everything about this movie: the plot, the characters, and even the music in it. If nudity and some bad language bothers you, then this is not the movie for you. But this movie has quickly become one of my favorites and now I've ordered the DVD too. I did this because I've watched it at least 4 times already on VHS and I know I'll be watching it again. there is one reason to watch this movie, the sex scene, i dont care about the girl, just bruce, this movie was alright i suppose, but nothing special, some scenes were god, some pretty bad, and his whole blindness thing that he cant see red was kinda dumb, it didnt play well in the movie, but if u think bruce willis is hot, and i sure do, u HAVE to get this movie, u can see him completly nude, and it is a very goood sight, ...this move is only really worth gettting for that, and if u think hes hot, then this is definatly worth getting, u wont be dissapointed by bruc, in my opinion hes an amzing actor, but i really wish he had done a porno if u catch my drift ; )Movie Review: Love Bruce As Always

I'm a big Bruce Willis fan and even though this isn't an incredible film it is still a good film. There's a fun sort of eroticness to it but I do feel that Mia Sara, perfecting the childish chipmunk look (she's got a career in Fantasy/Sci-Fi) may've pulled off the range of multiple parts interspersing herself in a therapy group but she lacks the malleability to convincingly becoming so many different characters in form. What would've been much simpler would've been to have multiple actors play the role. Bruce Willis does a really credeble turn as an angusihed doctor trying to recover his sense of self and ability to help heal others.Movie Review: Great Movie-Lousy DVD Content

I loved this movie. The acting was superb; the characters were both gripping and complex. The acurate portrayal of an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as portrayed by Brad Dourif, was astounding. Bruce Willis' sex scenes were VERY HOT! This is obviously a man who is very confident about his ability to get the job done with the professional grace, style and heat that this film required. The cop, portrayed by Ruben Blades, was very entertaining as well. What I was greatly disappointed by though, was the director's laziness is in his decision to exclude any commentary on the film. Frankly, I think this film, more than most, deserved the director's commentary feature. To discover the WHY'S about the characters would have been very interesting. With such a great film under his belt, you'd think Director - Richard Rush would have taken the time and shown his pride for this work of art. Again, great movie. I would recommend this film to anyone seeking a great time and an indepth ride through the psyche of these everyday people with the level of problems many people share. But, the DVD is seriously lacking the features many DVD lovers buy them for.
