Movie Reviews of ClownhouseMovie Review: A Creepy Delight Summary: 5 Stars
I heard all about Victor Salva and the young boy who plays the lead in Clownhouse. And I have to say, it's a shame Clownhouse gets smeared with the scandal. Woody Allen and Roman Polanski are considered great director's, and everyone seems to forget about thier history? Clownhouse is a fantastic little creepy movie. And unlike most of the other 80's slasher flicks, it doesn't play on the same old formula of hapless teens out to have sex getting butchered by a maniac. Clownhouse has real character development. You genuinely care for the three brothers, and anyone who feels the oldest brother is too mean to his younger siblings, never grew up in a household full of boys! I believe the characters are very believable and endearing. This group of no-name kid actors make the movie. The suspense is pretty tight, and there are a few genuine scares sprinkled here and there. Look beyond the scandal associated with Clownhouse and you will find a gem of a horror film.
Movie Review: Why did they release so few DVD copies? Summary: 5 Stars
I've been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD for quite some time. I understand they finally released it just recently, but it was sold out almost immediately. What a bummer, I missed it! Why did they release so few copies? Obviously, I'm not the only one that's been dying to get this on DVD. Hopefully, all those interested in having this great (what I would call) horror classic, will put some pressure on those who might distribute more copies for sale. Clowns are scary even when they're behaving themselves. Enter some murderous clowns, who happen upon 3 boys who are left at home alone and you have the making of the youngest boy's worst nightmare (Casey, played by the adorable Nathan Forrest Winters). Please, lets get a lot more copies of this on the market again soon, so we can all buy the DVD and enjoy it!
Movie Review: Fantasy Vs. Reality... Summary: 5 Stars
Ok, let me begin by saying that I do know the awful story of what happened behind the scenes of CLOWNHOUSE. I believe ANY child abuse such as what occurred should be punished by life in prison (at the very least). I believe the director is as sick as the killers in the movie! Those are my personal views about the actual events. As for the movie itself, it is a horror classic that gets the whole "fear of clowns" thing right. The entire story is shot through w/ a suffocatingly ominous atmosphere. Now, there's good reason for this, considering the before-mentioned crime. However, as a horror movie, CLOWNHOUSE's impact is undeniable. So, like others, I find myself torn, and a bit sad whenever I think of this film. However, I can't say I don't love it...
Movie Review: clowns-r-us Summary: 5 Stars
i saw this movie many years ago and it enthralled me. I have always been terrified of clowns and this movie made my fear escalate. I love the characters and Victor Salva does a great job in the director's chair. His recent movies(Jeepers Creepers,Powder) have not frightened me nearly as much and is not nearly as good as this. The great thing about this movie is that it scared the hell out of me, and I never used to get scared of any movie. The settings are great, and the film scares you without all the unneccesary gore. They need more hooror movies like this these days. A true underground horror classic. WATCH IT.
Movie Review: Great Horror Film Summary: 5 Stars
This is another great horror product of the 80's. This story hits home with me due to my home town being terrorized by a serial killer who dressed up as a clown during the late 80's. Maybe that's why I'm attacted to it, either way it's still a great movie. The acting done by the three brothers is exactly what you would expect from three real brothers of the same age. Another perfect example of how incredibly simple a well made horror movie can be and still be brilliant. This is one of the best. The DVD was originally very hard to find, but very much worth it.
