My review title is a direct quote from my two-year old.
She loved the Classical Baby series so I just bought the Poetry edition without reading the reviews. Everyone in our house enjoyed the first three DVDs so much that we gave sets away as baby gifts.
The animation and choice of material in the latest edition is lovely but my daughter absolutely HATED the segments showing children talking about poetry. For that reason, the DVD really got really annoying really quickly.
I think if they'd stuck to the original format without inserting the kids, it would've been more enjoyable.
Maybe we'll have better luck next time.
Movie Review: Great for all ages!

I stumbled across this show on HBO, and instantly my 2 year old twins were mesmorized. I set up my DVR to record the next showing of it, and it has been almost 6 months and they watch it all the time. I have used it as a quiet time tool right before nap time. The commentating by the kids on here are absolutely adorable. Very well thought out and intelectual for their age. Anyway, I love it so much I bought the entire series. We travel a bit, and it helps keep the car atmoshpere mellow. Also, my 10 year old is an avid reader, and she came across a book "Hate That Cat" that referenced some of the poetry from the show. She was so excited that she knew who William Carlos Williams was and that she knew some of his poems already. The Poetry Show has helped to be a part of something special with all three of my kids. Everyday my kids look forward to the Poetry Show. And all the Classical Baby shows. Highly recommended.Movie Review: A Magical Buy !!

It is a truly beautiful introduction to an amazing array of poetry, letting your child know that poetry comes in many styles. The choice of poetry, the way it is read, the music and the images will leave you mesmerized. The comments by all the children are the icing on the cake.Movie Review: Awesome!

My son is two-years-old and he is not permitted to watch television. (I am a psychologist and have done research as to the correlation of ADHD and television viewing). However, I discovered The Poetry Show on HBO and recorded it for my son. He absolutely loves it. He is now able to completely recite the Owl and the Pussycat and will recite some limited Shakespeare. The children interviewed in this DVD are so sweet and cerebral. It truly inspires a parent to introduce their children to the arts at a young age. This DVD has quality animations, wonderful celebrity readings of classic poems and is an overall well-done piece. I would recommend this to anyone. I believe it spans children of all ages and captures the attention and interest of adults alike.
