Movie Review: Handy budget release

A brisk stomp through the back catalogue of Extreme video clips is the order of the day here, marketed as a budget release in at least some territories and it's a pretty good catch all compilation. Not aligned in any particular order this DVD shows the multi-faceted band and shows them in good light for the most part.
The mega hits are here - the obligatory More Than Words - and also the fairly successful Decadence Dance and Get the Funk Out. It has to be said that while the band initially made their name with rawk rock blasts of late 80's speedy hair metal they were in some ways too intelligent to be lumped in with those bands in general. Be that as it may, it IS where they made their name and the videos from that era of the band are also the ones that have dated the most. Sure, if you were there then the clips for D/Dance and GTFO are fine, they may even take you back on a guilty pleasure of a nostalgia trip. However younger audiences may just shake their heads in an amused fashion.
However the more sedate songs on here may have been a large part of why this bands run of hits dried up but they are also the songs that have aged the best. So maybe the band were right and the fans were wrong all along.
Regardless of that, I can say only a couple of things in summation. If you were a fan of Extremes intelligent and highly musically skilled rawk rock intertwined with heartfelt mellow numbers then this is a great release particularly if like me you never really saw the videos for their latter day singles. If you are a younger fan who missed them first time around this isn't a bad release to get if you'd like to get the visual effect as well as the music. Most of the videos haven't aged too badly and these guys really did deserve more than the standard 15 minutes of fame.
