Movie Review: If you can't get to a live performance...

You can see Cirque du Soleil for the first time just once, unfortunately. Your first Cirque exposure is so disorienting and magical that the subsequent shows never quite measure up. Quidam does the best job yet of making the experience brand new again. (And if Quidam is your first Cirque show, so much the better!) Some people may regard Cirque du Soleil as not much more than an arty Las Vegas show. For some of us, however, it's a religious experience. If you can't get to a live performance, buy this video. I've watched several of the Cirque performances on Bravo HD. It really is like being in first row. The picture is so clear. Not to say that the performances in each aren't excellent, but as far as "story-line" goes...most of them run together after a while and I can't say personally that any one stood out from another, until I saw Quidam. It is darker and intensely more magical than any of the other shows I've seen. I highly recommend it and plan to buy this dvd. I know this is one that I could watch again and again!

This is definitely the best Cirque DVD there is.Let's start with the video quality:
It is so good for a minute, I thought I was in Amsterdam, (Which is where it was filmed.)
The sound is so exellent I think it was better than the Big Top.
I have seen Varekai (Live and not live.), Mystere, (Live), Dralion (Not Live), Quidam (Not Live), Saltimbanco (Not live), Nouvelle Experence (Not Live and Cirque Reinvente (Not live.)
So out of all of the ones I haven't seen live, I think Quidam is the best.
Movie Review: Excellent DVD, as expected!

This is the one and only Cirque du Soleil video I've seen, and it was as good as I expected, excellent by my standards. It is a really beautiful show and well worth the money and time to watch.
I'm not at expert at Cirque du Soleil videos, so I have nothing to compare it against, but as a total noob and Cirque fan I CAN say that if they are all of this quality I'll eventually watch them all.
BUY IT!

Movie Review: Better in person but still fantastic

Having seen the show live twice I was thrilled to see the DVD version of quidam. Like all of Cirque Du Soleil's videos the technical production is fabulous. I was slightly bummed to see that the act involving the pair using the weighted red balls was not included but this in no way diminished the package. Overall I found the DVD stunning and I'm impressed by how well it was adapted from the big top to the screen.
