Movie Reviews of Cirque du Soleil - QuidamMovie Review: Ohmigawsh!! Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing Cirque du Soleil is. The whole show is absolutely electrifying, not only becase of the acrobatics and acting, but because of the sets, the music, and the costumes as well. Every bit of the stage shimmers with life and magic. The characters have amazing amounts of expression in them, and communicate every moment perfectly. Quidam has enough plot to create a stunning story, but leaves room for the interpretation that is the essence of the show. Also, the filming is superb. I am very interested in creating costumes and sets for the theatre, and Quidam was very inspiring to this. You'll have the music stuck in your head forever too, by the way...
Movie Review: Following the Cirque tradition, Quidam represents it well... Summary: 5 Stars
I've seen Quidam twice in New York City, and once in Washington DC, each time was more amazing than the one preceding it. The music, the visual, and the general atmosphere. Almost surreal to the eye, you shouldn't miss this one!! It's probably best if you saw it live, but watching it on DVD is always a last resort. Truly amazing!! Also, don't forget to catch other Cirque on video such as Saltimbanco (not so good on video, too many dizzying visual effects used), and Nouvelle Experience (excellent even on video). Cirque is really establishing itself, don't be surprised if you start seeing a permanent Cirque show at a town near you!!
Movie Review: Cirque du Soleil: Quidam Summary: 5 Stars
Cirque du Soleil continues to expand the limits of artistic expression! Every performer featured in "Quidam" is interconnected with each portion of the program. The fluidity, grace, beauty, and strength each of the participants project is a sight to behold! One word describes "Quidam": wonderment. If you're ever in Las Vegas, Nevada, be sure to check out "Mystere" (I've seen the show seven times) and "O" (the "water show"). You'll take a journey into peace, laughter, love and harmony. I can't wait for "The Journey of Man" and the other travelling shows to come out on DVD!
Movie Review: My first Cirque Experience!! Summary: 5 Stars
After my parents having gone to Treasure Island to see Mystere, I knew I would really enjoy a Cirque performance, based on their reactions to the show. I ordered a package through Columbia House, with Quidam and Dralion both. Quidam has a storyline that is more elaborate, and developed (in my opinion) than Dralion. After watching it repeatidly, I am still amazed at how many nuances I can pick out that I had never noticed before. Without going into specifics I would say that the theatrics and acts are coordinated beautifully, juxtaposed to the weaker story of Dralion, which seems to focus mainly on the acts. Surely Quidam is a must-see.
Movie Review: A simple, honest review. Summary: 5 Stars
What can I add to the dozens of eloquent descriptions already given? Quidam is my absolute favorite Cirque performance, live or otherwise. The music is beautiful and exciting, and the acts are amazing. the show is mostly in another language, but there isn't a lot of talking, and the storyline is obvious and easy to follow.
This is a show that EVERYONE will love, be they adults, teenagers, or young children. Seriously. My 2 year old will sit mesmerized through the whole thing, and my 15 year-old son watches it voluntarily!
Trust me, you will LOVE this show, and you will watch it again and again and again!
