Movie Review: Quidam the DVD

This Cirque Du Soleil show, in which is about a journey seen through the eyes young girl, is amazing. It is one of my favorite cirque shows. The acts included in this dvd are, jump rope, ariel contortion in silk, diabolos, banquine, vice versa (statue), *****hand balencing, ariel hoops, german wheel, ariel ropes, and many more. My absolute favorite act is hand balencing on canes. It is performed by Olga Pikhienko, the same acrobat who does hand balencing in cirques latest production Varekai. This act is truly breath taking. The flexibility, stength and balence this acrobat performs seems virtually impossible. Cirque Du Soleil has yet to amaze us again! Other of my favorite acts include ariel contortion in silk. This is done by Issabel Chasse, the same girl who was in the group contortion in Nouvelle Expirience (an earlier cirque show.) Diabolos is a good act, it is performed by cute little asain girls who catapult chinese yoyos in the air. Jump roping is also good, it is full of many energetic performers. I saw Quidam for the first time about three weeks ago. I had never even heard of it before and since then I spread the word, now everyone I know is raving about it. In three weeks I have seen Quidam more than thirteen times. I bought the DVD yesterday and saw it three more times. Quidam is a work of art which I feel everyone should experience at least once, it left me speachless and in awe of the amazing show. A combination of circus talents and musical story, which unfolds a story of emptiness turned to discovery of our world and the imagination that guides us. Awesome acrobatics and mind boggling stunts to thrill at time and time again mixed with a soothing and upbeat background music. A definite must for anyone interested in art form, music, theater and of course awe inspiring acrobatics. Quidam is one I will never tire of, and I continue to be awed by it with every viewing.Movie Review: My first Cirque

Quidam is a very moving piece of work. I've never seen Cirque before, and I saw this show on Pay-per-view and fell in love. That very night, I ordered the soundtrack, very haunting, and put it on repeat--it's a sort of Tom Waits meets the Ringling Brothers. Having never seen the live show, I can't share the other reviewers' complaints of what is missing. I can only report what is here. Fantastic acrobatics, gymnastics, and theatre the likes of which I've never seen--and one of my college degrees is in theatre. I encourage any lover of any art or even storytelling to purchase this DVD immediately and watch it a loved one, alone, with family, or a complete stranger. Quidam is truly one of the most magnificent works of live entertainment I've ever witnessed. If you've never seen Cirque, as I hadn't, please ignore the negative feedbacks on this page, and invest the money in Quidam.Movie Review: Classic Cirque

After having seen Alegria and Dralion I did not know what to expect when I saw Quidam. Like all other Cirque shows this has re-invented the circus yet again. With amazing aerial displays of feat, and some amazing acrobatics on the ground, this show will amaze all. From the sheer size of the stage under the Big Top to the acts I was very impressed by this production. This first act was German Wheel and let me say I have never seen anyone do that with a wheel before, you have to see it to believe it. The Aerial Contortion was amazing, having seen Isabelle Chasse in Nouvelled Experience I was pleased to see her in another production. The came Skipping Ropes, boy I wished I had paid more attention in gym class, I could be a Cirque star. Two other acts to mention are the Handbalancing and Banquine. They will amaze all. If you are a Cirque fan than this show is for you.Movie Review: Never get borded watching it...

I have several Cirque du Soleil performances on video (DVD and tape), and this one is my favorite. Unfortunately, I've never seen a Cirque performance live, but I will the next chance I get.Quidam is phenomenal in so many ways. The performances are amazing. Audrey's singing is amazing, forget that she's only 12. The embedded storyline is intriguing. And the music is the best I've heard from Benoit Jutras (Audrey's father for those keeping score at home).
The only disappointment is that the disc cover and tech specs on the disc (...) say that the subtitles are in English and French. What they don't tell you is the subtitles are limited to the 30 seconds of words that appear in the beginning, and nothing more. I would like to have seen a translation of what she's singing, but subtitles get to be distracting anyway.
Bottom line- it's spectacular!
