Movie Review: Vintage 60's Chuck Berry
Summary: 4 Stars
An excellent vintage look at Chuck Berry. This was done during a late 60's anti war concert given in Toronto. Solid musical work with the detatched feeling that Chuck Berry still has when you see him play at Indian Casino venues in 2004 and beyond. The sound quality is 60's at best and the DVD has really not enhanced the sound to pull out the best....but what do you say? If you saw Chuck Berry in the 60's, 70's, 80's 90's etc....this is the same show he has done then and now. He walks in, does a few chords with the pickup band...and away he goes! The show ends and there are no encores....it was that way then and still is now. Since he is younger here,...good duck walking with guitar work. This is worth getting to fill in gaps in your Berry Career Collection.( Little Richard did a session at this same concert with MUCH better audience connection...much sweating, clothes throwing.....etc. ) Just remember,.....no audio/video enhancement has been done here.
