Movie Reviews of Christmas in ConnecticutMovie Review: Classic Christmas Movie Summary: 5 Stars
Christmas in Connecticut is a classic Christmas movie that warms the heart and tickles the funny bone. If you are a fan of classic movies, you will not be disappointed. Barbara Stanwyck gives a marvelous performance as Elizabeth Lane, a journalist who specializes in articles about house keeping and cooking, when she herself can not cook or keep house to save her life. If you are in need of a cheerful and entertaining movie this holiday season, don't miss Christmas in Connecticut.
Movie Review: a holiday favorite Summary: 5 Stars
Christmas in Connecticut is one of my all-time favorite holiday flicks. It's a simple romance and comedy of errors, but has a stellar cast and is peppered with some of the subtleties of movies from its era. This way of addressing relationships and sex today is apparently lost on contemporary directors. Sad. If you want fun and interesting romance, that does not insult your intelligence, I highly recommend this, and most of the romantic films of the WWII and post-WWII era.
Movie Review: Christmas in Connectcut review Summary: 5 Stars
The "Christmas in Connecticut" movie was o.k., but we purchased the video mainly for the black and white trailer movie, "STAR IN THE NIGHT," which is more than worth the price of the video. It's a modern (well, sort of) version of a birth in a stable, and shows how peoples' attitudes are changed when they work together to help. It will bring tears to your eyes. It's only about 20 minutes, and we watched it several times during the Christmas season.
Movie Review: Feel-good simplicity, comedy classic Summary: 5 Stars
This has long been one of my favorite films. Not only does it have an outstanding cast but the story is classic, feel-good comedy. Barbara Stanwyck is flawless, playing her role understated rather than over the top which counters the zany goings-on around her nicely. Reginald Gardiner's subtle portrayal of a man more in love with his achievements than with his fiance is very funny, and the rest of the cast is equally enjoyable. A good holiday watch!
Movie Review: Classic 40's Christmas at it's Best! Summary: 5 Stars
This has been my favorite holiday movie for a long, long time. I think one of the main reasons is the time-frame. I adore anything from the 40's. The story revolves around an accomplished and much-loved magazine writer who pretends to write about her life on a farm in Connecticut. Enter one returing WWII hero and her boss and you have the makings of Christmas chaos and romantic fun that never ends! A joy to watch for the whole family.
