Movie Reviews of Christmas in Connecticut

Movie Review: Holiday Treat
Summary: 5 Stars

I've seen this film dozens of times, but I still ordered the DVD as soon as it was available. My whole family enjoys this classic Christmas tale that combines screwball comedy with romance and a cast of incredible actors. The dialogue is witty and the comedy of errors is hysterical. The gorgeous house with its Connecticut farm setting, the horse drawn sleigh ride over the glistening snow on a moonlit night, and quite a few "will they or won't they" moments between Barbara Stanwyck and Dennis Morgan maintain the romantic tension. This film would put even Scrooge in a good mood.

Movie Review: Watching This Has Become 'A Christmas Tradition'!
Summary: 5 Stars

My oldest daughter and I first discovered this(1945) film several years ago on Turner Classic Movies (TCM),and it has become a 'Tradition' to view it every Christmas since. Of course I immediately ordered it from Amazon so I would have my own copy.

It is delightfully hilarious fun with a sweet romance and 'to die for' winter scenery, as well. Being in Black & White just adds to it's richness.

Highly recommended, and I believe that anyone who views it will also add Christmas In Connecticut to their list of 'must-watch' Christmas season movies.

Movie Review: Don't miss the extras
Summary: 5 Stars

Don't miss the extra feature on this DVD. I was enchanted by the special vintage short, "Star in the Night." This was a Southwest retelling of the Christmas story. Three cowboys follow a neon star to a rundown inn where the lack of Christmas Spirit runs rampant. When a young expectant mother and her husband in need of a place to stay, arrive, the true meaning of Christmas fills the inn.

Director Don Siegel and writers, Robert Finch and Saul Elkins masterfully tell us the story that we've heard so many times.

Movie Review: Fantastic Barbara Stanwyck!
Summary: 5 Stars

Barbara Stanwyck walks the thin line of people who love her and people who hate her. There is no "gray" area with this actress. ME? I', one of few who live on the line. Sometimes I love her, sometimes not. In this movie however, it's a definite "DO LOVE HER"! As a comedian, she is unmatched in this film. And the man who plays her Uncle Felix(can't remember his name)he's too funny!
This is a Christmas movie and in perfect Barbara style, she doesn't take a lot of mess. MUST SEE for old movie lovers!

Movie Review: Christmas in Connecticut
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a film classic. As a writer for a promimnent Food Magazine, she writes about her family, her husband and baby and her wonderful Connecticut home. She weaves her stories around the cozy fire in the fire place, the fantastic meal she prepares and of course the great life she lives. Until the owner of the magazine invites a war hero to spend Christmas with her and her family, she falls in love. Now she has to decide what really matters most to her, the job or the man. Who does she choose?
