Movie Reviews of Children Of Heaven

Movie Review: What a sweet movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I love Majid Majidi, he creates poems, not movies, yet his poems are very deep and graphic.
What I love the most is to share people's lives, while in the movie you transport yourself to those exotic places and learn so much more about who iranians are and how they are, towards children for instance (so sweet and considerate) when the girl is crying at the shoe going through the water a strange man comes and tries to comfort her and helps her.
Great photography, the story is sad but it depicts normal life of strugling laborers around the world.
Two thumbs up film, great story that will keep your attention untill the end.

Movie Review: Lovely
Summary: 5 Stars

There's something about Majid Majidi's movies that warms the heart. It makes me appreciate the smaller pleasures of life. This and the Color of Paradise. His movies leave me feeling uplifted. They make me appreciate life and complain less for a while.

Perhaps its the spirit of enthusiasm, innocence and loyalty that he captures in children. Perhaps it is because his characters are stuck in not very fortunate circumstances and yet they delight us with their warmth, affection and generosity of heart.

His movies have made me more curious about Iran and Persian culture. I am reading "Reading lolita in Tehran" now.

Movie Review: A Pair of Shoes....
Summary: 5 Stars

Ali is a nine year old from a very poor family who has just lost repaired shoes that belong to his sister while helping his family. In shame he explains this to his younger sister, Zohra, who threatens to tell their father about the lost shoes. Ali understands the dilemma better then Zohra, and he explains that they both will be beat by their father if he finds out. They come up with a new idea on how to avoid their fathers wrath; however, this idea leads to new problems outside the family. Children of Heaven has a depressing impact on the audience; nevertheless, the cinematic experience is awesome.

Movie Review: Unimaginably nuanced simplicity
Summary: 5 Stars

This is nothing short of fabulous. The rave reviews are, if anythng, understated. It gives a tender insight into all that we've lost in a world where the primary parent is the TV. The director has made it a universal story as there are no religious overtones or even nationalistic shadings. The lessons of sibling cooperation and love and parental respect the pre-teen brother and sister impart are without limit as to the age of the viewer and their power to affect you. I will purchase every film this director makes for he has an amazing heart and eye for what makes us human and worthy of living.
