Movie Reviews of Children Of HeavenMovie Review: the other kind of glovalisation Summary: 5 Stars
this is sad story about two little angels which r from a very poor familly from iran .they have to strugle whit a huge poverty.their father its having all kind of problems and they have been keeping a little secret from him. they dont want to make him mad . they boy needs to do something and shows his great courage by doing something which almost seems imposible for so many...
the reason why i call this review the other glovalisation is because it remind me of the situation in which many kids live in latinoamerica , africa , india and so many other places around the world . but it also reminds me of how great and strong they really are . so i hope u enjoy the movie it is a must have.also a great movie to c whit ur kids and to learn something new about a culture which many of us ignore.
another movie that u wiil probably also love is frida by salma hayek one of the greatest mexican actress.
Movie Review: Pleasantly Surprised Summary: 5 Stars
We did not have any expectation about the movie when we rented it from Netflix. We just wanted to rent something that we could watch with our 8-year-old daughter. Actually, we did not even expect her to like the movie. One evening while she was doing something else, I just popped the DVD in the machine to see if she would be interested. To my surprise, she dropped what she was doing and watched the entire movie in one go, refusing to pause even to get her snack! We were absolutely fascinated -- by the culture, the language, the innocence, and most of all, the very wonderful storyline! It is true -- we felt the ending was a little abrupt (and the scene where the fish were hovering Ali's feet was perhaps a little too much). Nonetheless, it is a fabulous movie and it is absolutely engaging to see how the two siblings think and care for each other! We will definitely buy this DVD!
Movie Review: Simple Yet A Sophisticated Pleasure Summary: 5 Stars
Telling the story of 2 young kids and a father who has to work double duty as Mosque tea server and at another job, it is apparent that there are even harder struggles to deal with than just being poor. How to enjoy life without stepping over each other as humans in a modern world of cell phones and superficialities is a difficult task for some in western media to convey, considering that there are corporations who need to advertise through most of the modern western movies ( observing a guy drink a COCA COlA in a Jack in The Box for instance ). This movie keeps it down to earth and charmingly does so. I would recommend this film to people who think Iran is just a place where the veil over women's hair is the center point of attraction. The movie explains that women and men have a just equal difficult time of getting by as they do here in America with the luxuries at our disposal.
Movie Review: WATCH THIS MOVIE OVER & OVER!! Summary: 5 Stars
This 1999 Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Picture and Award Winner at the Montreal, Newport & Singapore Film Festivals is one of the most delightful, heartwarming pictures I've seen in a long time. As good as the story is, I'd watch it just for the insight into Iranian culture. A chance to see something of the people of Iran. No nukes or bombs, just a look at every day life in Iran. Put it at the top of your list to see. Roger Ebert sums it up best:``Children of Heaven'' is very nearly a perfect movie for children, and of course that means adults will like it, too. It lacks the cynicism and smart-mouth attitudes of so much American entertainment for kids and glows with a kind of good-hearted purity. To see this movie is to be reminded of a time when the children in movies were children and not miniature stand-up comics." WWW.LUSREVIEWS.BLOGSPOT.OOM
Movie Review: spellbinding... Summary: 5 Stars
I had to almost force myself to sit through the beginning of Children of Heaven since it seemed so slow, and visually dull. However, the payoff for "enduring" the first part was well worth it. The movie was gorgeous, meticulous, and I consider it to be the most elegantly simple, yet powerful movie I've seen in ages. I guess the story could be recapped in few sentences, but it's deceivingly complex. It's a story of poverty and sacrifice, a little like The Gift of the Maji. I believe just about any age viewer could appreciate this film. In hindsight, my initial difficulty had more to do with being dulled by big, hollywood productions, which are made to grab the viewer at every turn. This film unfolds organically, and is understated in its beauty. I hope you'll watch it. I can't imagine you would regret it.
