Movie Reviews of Cherry 2000

Movie Review: Don't Forget Tim!
Summary: 4 Stars

Nobody's yet mentioned another stand-out member of the cast of this film: Tim Thomerson as "Lester," the villain of the piece. His quirky and over-the-top portrayal makes Lester one of the most hilarious and memorable comic movie villains of all time.

The film is rife with running gags, visual humor and clever bits of dialogue (as when one character describes life in the post-apocalyptic big city as being "kinda paranoid and audio-visual;" while another summarizes life in the lawless desolation of Zone 7 this way: "You should see 'em out there, playin' Twister and revertin' to their animal natures!")

You'll need to watch it more than once to catch all the visual gags; my favorite being when Melanie Griffith consults her Thomas Bros. Guide to the Forbidden Zone.

This film is plain good fun, and not remotely as insulting to one's intelligence as half the big-budget, "blockbusters" out there. For a fun David Andrews double-feature, try this one with Stephen King's "Graveyard Shift."

Movie Review: A Classic of Camp
Summary: 4 Stars

This movie is just plain fun. It isn't great cinema, but it's fun. I credit the filmmakers with knowing the limitations of money & plot and settling for sheer glorious cheese value. You get middlin' acting from Melanie Griffith, who seems right for the part regardless. You've got Tim Thomerson, who is unparalleled in the world of b-movie science fiction and who always turn in a pitch-perfect performance. Pamela Gidley, better known to cult film fans as Teresa Banks from Fire Walk With Me, works her limited part as Cherry with aplomb. And Laurence Fishburn, with a bit part in this, used to be billed as Larry.

Movie Review: BLADE RUNNER VS CHERRY 2000 By JOSE LUIS
Summary: 4 Stars

i saw this movie, a long time ago, and i have the opportunity to watch it again recently, far beyond from another futuric flicks, this pass the test of time ok, Melanie Griffith looks amazing beautiful with her intense red punk hair, and the way that she talk is in some way hot, and the guy from graveyard shift, i dont know why but, he had a Don johnson similarity and the wear he used in the movie (miami vice). The director maybe had the idea to make a movie in the mood of blade runner but he fall short in this, maybe the budget dont help. this a decent film and is worth to buy it but the nostalgic value.

Movie Review: Dumb but very appealing
Summary: 4 Stars

There is just something appealing about this movie. Melanie Griffith is cute, the story is dumb but very enjoyable, the situations are very predictable but still fun and the acting is bit below professional quality but bearable. In other words, this is really a rather bad movie, but somehow it transcends that dumbness and is just plain fun to watch. I wish I could explain it better, but I really can't. I like this movie a lot, but after it's over, I can rip huge holes in it. If you just want fun, try this and don't even bother to try to explain it.

Movie Review: Good Mindless Fun!
Summary: 4 Stars

If you are looking for an Intellectual Challenge or the Meaning of Life, then "Move Along".

If you are looking for good mindless entertainment, then this may well be for you.

Cherry 2000 is a VERY sophisticated 'Blow Up Doll' which essentially blows a fuse.

This leads her Master to hire Melanie Griffith to hunt down the required 'spare parts' to get her working again.

Its simple minded and promises nothing more than mindless entertainment, which is just great if thats what you're looking for!

I personally really enjoyed this movie.
