Movie Review: Incomparable!

The comparison of Cher and Madonna will go on forever. But the facts are what count! Madonna may be as successful as Cher musically (although hasn't been around long enough to see if she will keep having hits in the next two decades), but that is the only entertainment medium besides writing kids books (which anybody could write!) that she has succeeded in. It is a known fact that she is the worst film actress in the world and no one can deny that. She only received a Golden Globe for "Evita" because she sang the whole movie (no acting required!). The caliber that Cher is in is unreachable for Madonna. She has been around 20 years, made a lot movies, and if she hasn't done it by now - I don't see it happening. Oprah even stated that Madonna always has a facade up and never truly shows who she really is and Cher has always been Cher. The reason she has stayed on top for the past 40 years is because she hasn't cared what anyone else thinks about her! Where through publicity stunts Madonna and the Britney Spear's of the world obviously do care what the world thinks about them and after American Life - Madonna better keep looking for new ways to get attention, because she needs it!Movie Review: "An Iconic Superstar Of The Highest Magnitude!"

Cher's "Farewell Tour" DVD was filmed in Miami, Florida and was originally an NBC television special. In this concert, billed as Cher's final concert tour, the diva proves why she has been in the business for over forty years and why she has staying power. She performs songs that she is most famous for, everything from the old Sonny and Cher classics, to her early seventies material like "Half Breed", to her oustanding comeback song "Believe". If you are a true Cher fan you cannot miss out on owning one of the greatest concert specials ever filmed. From the music, to Cher's beautiful Bob Mackie costumes, to Cher's various wig hairstyles, this lady is the ultimate diva. Another great part of the concert is seeing Cher's interaction with the audience, an audience who has proven their love for her over and over.
The DVD is filled with bonus features including three songs deleted from the special including her smash hit "Save Up All Your Tears", the music video "If I Could Turn Back Time", a documentary, interviews, and much more.

I saw CHER in Atlanta on April 25, 2003, and it will always be THE GREATEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! I grew up watching the Sonny & Cher show on tv, and playing Cher songs on my record player over and over and over, I must have played "The Way of Love" and "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" and "Dark Lady" a thousand times, and I sat there in Philips Arena watching her sing these songs, and it was as if it were a dream come true. Every minute was magnificent, every song was simply sensational! The entire arena rocked and thundered when she did "Bang Bang, My Baby Shot Me Down," and it was hard to believe it was a 57 year old woman on stage, singing that song! The concert didn't stop for even a minute, all the way through until the final song, "Believe," that really brought down the house, with the dancers both on stage and flying through the air on wire. Yep, the night was magnificent, and this dvd captures it completely and wonderfully. Cher, you really are the greatest ever!!
