Movie Reviews of Cher - The Farewell TourMovie Review: Excellent DVD! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought it recently and regret having not bought it sooner. Cher brings out the best in everyone, whether she sings or speaks onstage. I like her stage presence and her outlook on life. True, she is not going to tour anymore, but she will have left a great impact on young women in the music industry of the future (hopefully). It's hard to believe Cher has been a Diva for 40 years. She's got the body & soul of a 20-year-old, and I hope she won't go off the screen for good! She should continue acting, as I don't think the world will ever see enough of Cher.
I missed both Montreal performances from this Tour, thinking it would be an utter waste of money. I was proven very wrong!
Okay...regarding the DVD itself, here are some comments:
Positive:
- The Sound is amazing
- The Costumes and Set Designs are much more stunning
- The "If I could turn back time" performance blew me away! (she looks the same as in the 80's!)
- Cher's dialogue on stage is really witty & entertaining
- Her voice never gave out during the show
- "Believe" was performed far better this time than on the "Believe Tour" DVD
- I appreciate the extras and the interviews & backstage stuff (we learn more about Cher that way)
- the costume changes (all 7 of them) were pretty quick!
Negative:
- Should've been a 2 disc set with Bonus Features on disc 2
- The bonus songs in the "Bonus Features" should've been in the show's tracklist
- Cher didn't talk as much during this show, compared to the "Believe" tour DVD

I love the packaging. It's more compact and is very colorful. Cher is all about fun, and what she's given us is pure fun fun FUN! I've never imagined the DVD being as great as it is. So, i was very mistaken when I popped it into my mom's new DVD player. It blew us away! Cher belts out every song with power, grace and devotion to her career.
Imagine doing 7 costume changes during a concert, looking even better with each one! It's amazing and very clever! Cher has a way with costumes and everything she does, making this Tour a true success! I love this concert much more than Sarah Brightman's "Harem Live in Las Vegas" DVD. There's just much more to enjoy and remember.
For any Cher fan old & new...I highly recommend "Farewell Tour" to you. Buy it and relive 40 years of incredible music history by the most incredible Diva on earth!
Movie Review: THE ULTIMATE DIVA! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this DVD yesterday and have already watched it about 5 times! Cher's natural gift for performing makes this concert an electrifying show with too many costume changes to count on both hands!
The show's song run as follows:
1. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For 6/10
2. Song For The Lonely 8/10
3. Gayatri Mantra 5/10
4. All Or Nothing 7/10
5. I Found Someone 8/10
6. Bang Bang 7/10
7. Sonny & Cher Medley (The Beat Goes On, Baby Don't Go, I Got You Babe) 9/10
8. All I Really Want To Do (Medley Part 1) 6/10
9. Half-Breed (Medley Part 2) 7/10
10. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves (Medley Part 3) 8/10
11. Dark Lady (Medley Part 4) 9/10
12. Take Me Home 5/10

14. After All 10/10
15. Just Like Jesse James 10/10

17. The Shoop Shoop Song 10/10
18. Strong Enough 9/10
19. If I Could Turn Back Time 10/10
20. Believe 9/10
Every song in the show is a classic but nothing can beat Cher's performances of 'Just Like Jesse James', 'The Shoop Shoop Song', and 'If I Could Turn Back Time'. The 'Sonny & Cher' montage is a nice stroll down memory lane as are the montages showing Cher's movies and and other things including her Oscar win for 'Moonstruck'.
The special features are also very entertaining and include a behind the scenes look at the tour, Cher's special version of 'West Side Story', and the 2003 re-edit music video for 'If I Could Turn Back Time'.
This is a must have DVD for any Cher fan young or old, the only bad thing about it is that it is her farewell tour!
Movie Review: Surviving DIVA. Summary: 5 Stars
Cher has been singing for over 40 years and she did it very good and I think that she'll continue doing it. So in 2002 she decided to start what it was going to be her Farewell Tour. This show is similar as her 2000 Believe Tour but with more production and quality (with this I'm not saying that it was bad, it was very good actually but this is way much better). On this show you can see Cher performing all her hits plus others that were on the program but weren't added to the final cut of the concert that was recorded in the American Airlines Arena in Miami Beach. As every Cher show you'll see lots of costumes changing, specail effects, lots of dancers and all Cher's Extravaganza. She has been very clever doing it now that she can do it very good without showing weakness of any kind. Some of the songs here are her #1's "Gypsies, tramps and thieves", "Dark lady", "Half-breed" and "Believe" plus her other hits like "If I could turn back time", "Just like Jesse James", "I found someone" and "Song for the lonely". She covered once again as the opening number U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" (which honestly sounds better on her). And finally among the special features you'll find the new "If I could turn back time" video, 3 extra live songs, Cher's special version of West Side Story (not big deal) and behind the scenes. Very good Cher you did it again.
Movie Review: The REAL concert was the opening act Summary: 5 Stars
I was actually there in Miami for this taping. Cher put on quite a show. But it was that, a show. Perfectly orchestrated, Cirque du Soleil style. Very perfect and calculated and rehearsed, down to every line she said. But the real concert was the opening act, Cyndi Lauper. She sounded amazing combining her old-time hits with her new songs. Running through the audience and shaking hands with them, singing into people's cell phones. By the time she started hitting stratospheric high notes during extended rendition of "Money Changes Everything", everybody was on their feet, screaming in ecstasy. What a concert! Who needs dancers and special effects when you have the best voice in Pop music, a kick-ass band and enough energy to electrify a stadium. BTW, she's taping her own concert on March 11 in NYC. I can't wait for that one to be released.www.cyndilauper.com Oh! and about the Madonna argument. Cher did have another #1 with "I Got You Babe". And Mariah Carey has 16 #1 hits which beat Madonna's 12. Diana Ross has 18 but twelve of those are credited to The Supremes. And as for sales in the US, Barbra Streissand is the number one seller with over 71.5 million albums sold beating Madonna's 60 million. Worldwide Madonna most likely is the winner, though. Madonna is amazing for many reasons. You have to compare apples to apples. Cher has an Oscar to her name and hosted a top TV show for years. I don't think Madonna could ever do that.
Movie Review: CHER IS LARGER THAN LIFE! Summary: 5 Stars
After seeing Cher's farewell tour on television, I knew that I wanted to have something to commemorate her final tour extravaganza. From beginning to end, Cher keeps us fascinated by her ever changing looks and her unmistakable voice, the DVD has something for everyone who has ever followed the career of this one of a kind diva. Included in the DVD are bonus materials that give a behind the scenes glimpse at all the elements that go into making Cher's farewell tour a visual spectacle, including costumes, sets, rehearsals, and much more. For anyone who loves Cher, this is a DVD that must be included in one's collection. It spans the entire length of her career through costumes, music, and film. Definitely a show to be watched over and over just to see Cher dazzle the audience with costumes that range from Indian dress (where she enters the stage on a colorful eye catching elephant) to the days of fur vests from the early Sonny and Cher days. Cher covers all the bases in this show, singing all the songs that made her famous. Also, the exciting clips from her television days give us glimpses of duets sung with the likes of Tina Turner, Elton John, the Jackson Five, David Bowie, all of which show how versatile Cher as a performer was and is. Cher was correct when she stated at the beginning of the show wearing an outrageous costume depicting a circus ring leader--with a whip--This is the Cherest show on Earth! She will never be surpassed by any of the so called stars of today.
