Movie Reviews of Cheaper By the DozenMovie Review: A G rated family Summary: 5 Stars
This is a G rated family. I found the story warm, appealing, and loving. Wow! a wonderful statement about families. Cheaper by the Dozen includes numerous comedy interactions between Steve Martin and the kids. Some of the scenes almost come directly out of cartoon "Family Circle": swap the apples, repelling down the house, crashing the birthday party, and football in the backyard; the brilliant female "Dennis the Menace" - who master minded the attack on Nora's boyfriend, the "Dagwood" image of housewife rising to the top of her writing career and Steve Martin the business like football coach and hilarous interactions between each other. (I thought the cast work well together-it was very believable group); the break away from tradition families values with Nora living together with her boyfriend, the advertising starin opposition to her parents;and her redemption after request help to find her missing brother, saying, "Dad, I quess he won't make the cut". Its a great story of a families love and friendship with their father and his love towards his children and wife. Its one of the greatest "feel good" movies of the year.
Movie Review: A Great Family Movie... Summary: 5 Stars
Cheaper by the Dozen definately brings smiles to the table. Loving Parents Tom & Kate Baker (Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt) take care of 12 rambunctious kids. Kate Baker then gets her book published and is then sent to New York, which causes the not-so-better-half-of-the-tag-team to take care of the kids. With supporting cast...
Steve Martin...Tom Baker
Bonnie Hunt...Kate Baker
Piper Perabo...Nora Baker
Tom Welling...Charlie Baker
Hilary Duff...Lorraine Baker
Kevin Schmidt...Henry Baker
Alyson Stoner...Sarah Baker
Jacob Smith...Jake Baker
Liliana Mumy...Jessica Baker
Morgan York...Kim Baker
Forrest Landis...Mark Baker
Blake Woodruff...Mike Baker
Brent Kinsman...Nigel Baker
Shane Kinsman...Kyle Baker
To me, the best actors on this are: Steve Martin (Tom Baker), Bonnie Hunt (Kate Baker), Piper Perabo (Nora Baker), Tom Welling (Charlie Baker), Alyson Stoner (Sarah Baker), Forrest Landis (Mark Baker) and of course the great Ashton Cutcher (Hank the Model/Actor) who is uncredited. Buy Cheaper by the Dozen! You will be amazed!!!
Movie Review: Fun family movie! Summary: 5 Stars
Pairing up Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt is sheer genius! Delightful performances by the entire talented cast. As expected, this movie presents plenty of funny scenes that blend large family dynamics with outrageous physical humor -- catching a frog at the dinner table, dangling from the chandelier -- but it works well here. Nice progression of events and good development of multiple conflicts arising from each family member struggling to live out his or her own life while keeping the family close -- a tough job in the midst of a major move and multiple life transitions. From the previews I had the sense that Cheaper By The Dozen would dish up little more than a steady stream of comical food misadventures, but I was delighted to be served plenty of food for thought, too. The parents struggle with juggling careers and family life. The kids struggle with adjusting to a new school and a whole new way of life. Everyone struggles to be heard! And through it all, the cement that holds this group together is genuine family love. Great movie -- fun for the whole family!
Movie Review: A Nice Relaxing Film for a Change, with Laughs!!! Summary: 5 Stars
There are other reviews out there which spell out the entire film, and I'll let them do it for you. For this review, all I have to say is that Bonnie Hunt and Steve Martin are terrific in this movie, a remake of an earlier Clifton Webb one.
Although one reviewer thought Bonnie Hunt was perfect...I disagree. She's really got a great streak of "being human," and Martin is totally agreeable, and he really clicks with Hunt. The ensemble cast of children was wonderful, too, and no, they weren't the Brady Bunch, or the Partridge Family. This was a family movie for...entertainment's sake.
I happen to know many families with multiple children and their lives are equally funny at times, so this movie can be credible. Don't listen to O'Reilly, who didn't like the film. Just see the wonderfulness of this nice film with your family, put the popcorn out, and get ready for quite a few laughs. It's well worth it. Then get the original. You won't be disappointed. I wasn't.
Highly recommended!!!
Movie Review: I Liked This Movie! Summary: 5 Stars
Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt are wonderful in this family movie and I just loved it. Tom and Bonnie are highschool sweethearts, who fall in love, marry and have 12 children. You can see how much they are in love right from the beginning, however the trouble starts when Tom gets his dream job as a football coach and they move from their comfortable home where everyone is happy. Now they must adjust to a new life, which is always hard for children and to top it off Bonnie writes a book and makes it big time.
Going on a book tour, she leaves the children to the charge of Tom, who is already dealing with the pressures of his job.
Everything that can happen does happen and for a while their lives are going downhill. But, love pulls this family together and the wrongs are righted, it was great!
If you want a good family, feel good movie then you need to watch this one. Acting was good, story was good and there was a lot of humor mixed in. Well worth your time.
