Movie Reviews of Chances Are

Movie Review: A really wonderful romantic comedy
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this film for my mother for her birthday. We usually like exactly the opposite in everything, but this is one occasion where we both agree that this is one of our all time favorite films.

Robert Downey, Jr. is adorable as Alex Finch, the confused young journalism graduate inexplicably drawn to both Corrine and her daughter Miranda. Cybill Shepherd is perfect as Corrine, the widow 20+ years in mourning. Ryan O'Neal is wonderful as the extremely patient suitor. Mary Stuart Masterson is amazing as the adorable and brilliant Miranda. All the players have amazing chemistry together. This basically 4 man play works out beautfully despite all the miscommunication and subplot. Like any really good romantic story, it is heartening to believe that there really is someone for everyone.

The duet with Cher and Peter Cetera, "After All" that closes the film will make you so happy you cry. I have looked for years for the film soundtrack and had no luck.

This film is just a really good time that will most certainly become a romantic classic.

Movie Review: Almost Perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

I love Robert Downey Jr. and there is no doubt that he brings such a strong presence to any movie. In Chances Are he played his character well, and the rest of the cast were pretty good too. But I was still disapointed in the end results. When you first sit down to watch it you easily adapt to the characters, and you can't wait to find out what Robert's character Louie will discover next. He dies, comes back as a new soul, but accidently is left with his former life's memories. The story is great until the end! It kind of ruined it for me. But Robert is halarious, and his chemistry with Sybill Shepherd is perfect. Go rent it and find out for yourself. Either way it goes, it's an unique story and a ton of laughs, so it's still worth the watch!

Movie Review: My daughter loved it
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this movie with hopes of my daughter liking it. She is a big time Robert Downey Jr. fan. She didn't like it, she LOVED it! The movie was received in great condition and works just fine. No problem what so ever with this seller or the product. Would buy from again!!!

Movie Review: Not deep but fun to watch
Summary: 4 Stars

I love romantic comedies - this is a refreshing, fun and different take returning to life - loved seeing Ryan and Cybill young again. Downey plays his unusal part believably. I can't help myself, I like it and the music "After All" is fabulous.

Movie Review: Sweet movie
Summary: 3 Stars

Chances Are is adorable. The cast is wonderful and the idea is sweet. It all starts with on the first anniversary of a wealthy, DC couple who are crazy in love and just find out they're pregnant. On the same night, the husband is killed in a car crash. He goes to heaven where he is reincarnated in the form of Robert Downey Jr. By the time Downey's character is 23, he has no recollection of anything, until he meets the couple's daughter, who is also 23. He's beginning to fall for her, but then his memory begins to return and he realizes who he used to be. Long story short, he makes a play for the mother, who never got over her husband's death and wants to believe he's still alive.

I won't tell you how everything ends, but you may be kind of "icked out" by the fact that the daughter is, in essence, attracted to her father. I watched this movie when I was younger and it never really bothered me, but as I got older and really understood it, it kinda wigged me out. Having said that, it's a very sweet movie that wil make you feel all warn and fuzzy in the end.
