I saw the film many times in the 1970s...apparently this is a mess of a DVD!!!!!

Gianni, Nicola and Antonio become close friends in 1944 while fighting the Nazis. After the end of the war, full of illusions, they settle down. The movie is a the story of the life of these three idealists and how they deal with the inevitable disillusionments of life. Written by Yepok
Antonio, Gianni e Nicola hanno combattuto con i partigiani durante l'ultimo conflitto mondiale. Alla Liberazione i tre si perdono di vista. Antonio diventa portantino di Ospedale; Nicola fa il critico cinematografico fallito; Gianni sposa, senza amore, Elide, la figlia di un rozzo ed arrogante arricchito, ottenendo soldi e successo, ma anche solitudine ed infelicit?. Tutti e tre, in tempi diversi, hanno una storia con Luciana, aspirante attrice. Alla fine Antonio sposer? Luciana e continuer? a lottare con lei per i propri diritti; Nicola lascer? casa e famiglia; Gianni, ormai vedovo e solo, non riuscir? a confidare agli amici, incontrati per caso, le proprie sconfitte.
