Movie Review: Very Talented Women
Summary: 5 Stars
I have been reading many of the reviews in here about Celtic Woman. I personally think they are all very talented women, and the concert is nothing short of sensational.
We are living in a world of recordings that are cleaned up all the time.
They take instruments and voices and electronically make them hit notes and make sounds that they cannot do live.
Many live concets are overdubbed and even have things added later in the studio.
I really belive if I were to go see Celtic Woman live in concert, I would see pretty much what this DVD shows.
I would hear 4 outstanding lady vocalists and a great violinist.
I have listened to this CD and DVD several times in the last week and now find myself buying the solo albums as well.
Anyway you slice the pie, these are very talented women.
I know there are flaws in the DVD, but the voices are nothing short of heavenly.
Lisa in my mind is probably the best of the singers. Meav is one of the finest soprano voices in the world. Chloe is also very talented, especially for such a young woman.
Orla is the most authentic of the 4 vocalists.
Mairead is among the finest violinists in the wold. I would go just to see her in concert alone. I bought the CD and listened to it and curiousity killed the cat and I simply had to see them live. I bought this DVD and have been watching it a few times a week ever since.
So when you read these reviews about the flaws, ignore them and get ready for a concert that will haunt you.
In a day of rap and other types of music that dont resonate, its wonderful to hear 5 ladies with so much talent...ENJOY
Movie Review: What do people expect? It is still great. I have to go against the negitives here!!

With all the accusations of the dubbed performance it was still performed live to the best of the production teams ability along with Celtic Woman. They are still taking their live perfomances and bringing them into the concert! Why they did not just do a whole big live show is stupid because then you have people who think your the biggest cheat. These women are most certainly talented and they are doing their concert tour for the US in March. I believe they are the real deal and hearing from people who saw them in concert they can sing.
These women all have been around musical arts their whole lifes and are in musical families they have been raised and brought up with god given talents. No doubt that they have pipes. So stop saying these ladies cant sing one bit.
There was Im sure songs recorded in a studio but these women can still sing. It's not like somone else is singing for them it is their vocals so stop the nagging and expect that not all dvd concert's are edit free. This showccases them so people will go see for them selfs in person.
And also these artist have made many accomplishments and awards in solo careers along with touring with other famouse Irish groups. You cant deny they aren't talented and Im sure they are giving us the real deal with their tour. They need to back themselves up because these things will come up.
As for a reviewer on here who emailed whoever about the dvd. He has no proof of it, not that Im saying it isn't likely.
The producers had quality in mind and gave exactly that to us.
Movie Review: Are Celtic Woman Without Soul?

I read through a number of the reviews for this CD and found that for the most part, people loved it as do I. A few commented that it lacked soul.
I guess I can understand this comment in a world where everyone wants flash over content but let me say this about these woman:
Their voices are some of the best trained voices I have ever heard. There is no comparision between their voices and a lot of the pop crap out their these days that may have more flash but no technique. The only way I could describe Chloe's voice is angelic and per Ave Maria is deeply moving. I can't imagine believing that anyone things this music is wihthout soul.
One review called this Musak. I hate Musak and this is certainly not that. Anyone who compares this to musak knows nothing about music but I suppose that years of pop crap do dull ones sensibilities.
It is my hope that this kind of music can become more popular. The woman have incredible talent and soul and their message is so much more positive than the music you hear on the radio today.
I also love their beautiful feminine dresses and reserved sensibilities and beauty when all the pop stars think that the only way to enterain people is to take your clothes off.
A hearty glass raised and slainte to Irish Woman who have shown the pop world what it really means to have talent and class.

Movie Review: Beyond Celtic Woman
Summary: 5 Stars
Celtic Woman is one of the few cds that I continue to play every so often long after I first received it. I was already a big fan of the Corrs, Enya, Riverdance, and other new Irish groups, some of whom I first heard on the "Thistle and Shamrock" PBS show. But Celtic Woman takes the genre to a new level, powered by the voices of Lisa, Chloe, Orla and Maiv and the inspired fiddling by Maihread, especially the haunting "Lagan Love" . The DVD combines both ensemble and solo performances, so you get the best of both worlds and the effect of the arrangements of the director, David Downes' sheer musicality is stunning. Chloe and Lisa seem to be having the most fun, while Maiv is like a big sister and Orla adds a classical Celtic moody delicacy. The blending of all four singers is especially wonderful on "Jesu", "Soft Goodbye", "One World" and "You Raise Me Up", while my favorite solos were "Danny Boy", "She Mov'd Thru' the Fair", "Someday" and especially Lisa's endearing "May it Be" and "Send Me A Song", accompanied by Downes on piano. I found the Lisa Kelly solo CD from the Celtic Woman website even more magnificent! (Unfortunately it's not available from Amazon yet!) Surprisingly my favorites of that CD - "Carrickfergus", "Home and the Heartland", "Homecoming" and "Now We Are Free" - are not on Celtic Woman. I also liked Chloe's solo CD which included more classical pieces.Movie Review: A wonderful experience

I think too many of the reviewers are trying to pick apart and find flaws for whatever reason. My opinion is simply this - if you want to hear amazing music with a contemporary spin on cultural song, done by extremely talented performers, in a way that will entertain you and that you can truly enjoy - you will like Celtic Woman. There are a few simple facts about Celtic Woman:
1. They have been at the top of the Billboard World Music charts for 68 consecutive weeks. No other performer ever has. There is a reason.
2. The violinist is one of the top performers IN THE WORLD. She is a national and international music champion. She has worked with many top musicians from around the world. She has more energy and skill than most performers in any medium.
3. The vocalists are extremely talented and their performances (especially live) are spellbinding.
4. Many people put it up against Riverdance. The music was produced and arranged by the same man who did Riverdance - and he doesn't dissapoint.
I don't know about the DVD, but I have seen them live and there is no lip-syncing. Just amazing performance after amazing performance. In the span of a 2 1/2 hour concert I went from being an observer to an avid fan. I think you will too.
