Movie Reviews of Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment!Movie Review: Celtic Thunder - It really is entertainment! Summary: 5 Stars
Having been a fan of Celtic Thunder from the beginning, I can say in all honesty that "Celtic Thunder - It's Entertainment!" is NO disappointment. I loved every second of it! It includes a great variety of songs that are each sung quite beautifully. For the old classics, Celtic Thunder gives them a new and fresh twist, while for the ones specially written by Phil Coulter, the lads perform them with all the charm and talent that they always have!
I've noticed a couple of negative reviews on this DVD, written by people who are upset with it not having celtic music. Yes, Celtic Thunder no longer sings very many celtic songs, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy them anymore! They may be called Celtic Thunder, but that doesn't mean they have to limit themselves to JUST celtic music. In fact, I think they are called Celtic Thunder just for the reason that they are celtic men. However, I think the main purpose of Celtic Thunder is to choose songs that people will enjoy AND that fit each of the lads' voices. So although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, keep these thoughts in mind. If you really want celtic music, there are plenty of great groups out there (Celtic Woman, The High Kings, etc.) that offer such. I just will never understand how people can say after hearing these guys' beautiful and unique voices, that they lack talent. It's quite mind boggling!
Anyways...I strongly recommend you give this DVD a try. Celtic Thunder once again delivers an enjoyable performance that may even have you dancing in your seat! What can I say? It's entertainment!
Movie Review: Celtic Thunder shows great new confidence in performance Summary: 5 Stars
Celtic Thunder's new DVD, It's Entertainment, has a happy mix of songs and shows all the performers to advantage.
Love George Donaldson's Life With You, Ryan Kelly's Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Damian McGinty's Standing on The Corner, Paul Byrom's Doo Wacka Doo and Keith Harkin's Hard To Say I'm Sorry and Surfer Medley.
Keith strikes me more and more as a young Paul McCartney. I loved him being taken to task by the wonderful lady singer in Just Like Jesse James and his confidence in the rebuttal song, Hard To Say I'm Sorry.
Paul has wonderful physical movement on stage, whether in a dance piece like Doo Wacka Doo or when just doing stage movement in the other songs. He flirts with the audience more than the others, and on him, it's cute.
Ryan acts the roles more than the others and looks good doing it. He has a very camera-friendly face.
George is darling in 500 miles, playing that imaginary guitar on the bridge. He may not be as at home with dance movement as some of the others but I bet he would be charming at it.
Damian is the young Frank Sinatra with his fabulous voice and make-the-girls-sigh smile.
Good job, Guys. Do come to Greenville, South Carolina sometime soon.
Movie Review: Truly Entertaining!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have purchased all 3 of Celtic Thunders's DVD's and CD's from Amazon as they are not available in New Zealand. Can't be anything but impressed with the service from Amazon. The DVD's and CD's always arrive very promptly and in excellent condition.
Now for the latest DVD, This latest DVD shows how far Celtic Thunder has come since their first DVD and CD. They have showed their versatility. This DVD is quite different from that of their first DVD recorded in the Helix in 2007 which showed the Celtic side of the boys. It's Entertainment moves to a different level as it doesn't contain much in the way of 'traditional' Celtic music, but that is not an issue as this DVD shows the versatility and talent of the boys in showing them able to adapt to different musical styles. The "behind the scenes" documentary is also interesting as it shows how much they put into preparing for each show, and at the same time how much they enjoy each other's company and performing for their audience.
All in all a great DVD which I have already seen many times. Highly recommend it.
I enjoyed this very much.
Movie Review: Celtic Thunder Does It Again Summary: 5 Stars
Just received "It's Entertainment", and I'm very pleased with the show. I have all of CT's DVD's so far, but saw them live for the first time last year in Houston, Texas. They're impressive, professional entertainers who know how to make contact with a live audience. This show is very different from what they've done in the past, with a few surprises (their lead guitarist has an excellent voice!). Unlike the last DVD which suffered from sloppy camera work, my compliments go out to the video director. The shots are well composed, and they stay on screen long enough for you to see the whole screen. None of that frantic, two seconds per camera glimpse to make you dizzy. The color is very vivid (they've kicked up the color and video levels to the max). Looks great on a plasma set. The audio is excellent (if you don't know how to adjust your surround system, don't make reviews concerning sound tracks). The audio mix of instruments and singers is top notch, the bass content excellent. This is a FUN show that sounds good and looks good. If you're a Celtic Thunder fan, buy this DVD NOW! I bet you can't watch it just once and then put it away!
Movie Review: Entertainment at it's BEST - Celtic Thunder Summary: 5 Stars
They came back with all new songs which was exactly what was needed to keep their momentum going. I was a little concerned after the second CD which, while still good, was nearly a remake from the first, with the exception of several excellent additions.
The blend of their voices brings harmony to the point of perfection. There is something on this CD/DVD for everyone. It's FUN and EXCITING to listen to and to watch. When we opened it and U2's "Still Haven't Found What I'm Lookin' For" came on, people came from all corners of the house. My 7 yr old grandson, 15 yr. old grandaughter, 28 yr old daughter and her husband, 30 yr old son and his wife, (husband and I were already mesmerized)all standing still and just listening. WOW!!!! When it finished, they all sat down wherever there was a spot and wanted to see the DVD. Nobody got up until it was over and they were all asking to borrow it. Nothing Doing...it's not leaving my house. I'll have to get more as it will be worn out shortly.
GREAT JOB and Neal fits right in. Give us some more!
