Movie Reviews of Cast Away [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Thought provoking Summary: 5 Stars
I enjoyed the movie. Image surviving for four years on coconut milk, rain water, crab, a picture of Kelly, and imaginary talking companion called Wilson.
The story is about tragedy. Chuck survives on an Island for four years in complete isolation. At one point, Chuck decides to kill himself, but the plan does work. Instead, Chuck plans an escape from the island. Chuck builds a raft and sails 500 miles on the ocean after being rescued by a Chinese cargo ship. Chuck returns home, to find his wife, Kelly has remarried and has a child named Susan. Chuck socializes with his friend Stan. Chuck learns that Stan's wife has died while he was gone. He also, learns, Kelly had given Chuck a burial ceremony believing him dead. Kelly can not see Chuck because of the emotional drama. Chuck decides to visit Kelley and arrives by taxi, late at night. Chuck kisses Kelly and the chemistry ignites. However, both know circumstances have changed. Chuck says, "you should have more children". Kelly has a surprise for Chuck and he discovers Kelly has kept his Jeep handing him the keys. Chuck kisses Kelly and departs, but Kelly runs after Chuck and tells him, "you are the love of my life". Kelly wants to run off with Chuck. This is very sad part of the movie, Chuck tells Kelly, she has to return home to her family. Kelly is broken hearted, but understands; Kelly must be responsible. Chuck returns to his life of isolation.
Movie Review: A methapor of life Summary: 5 Stars
We are taught to believe that our future is determined by the choices we take and miss and although that is true in a way, I have come to realize that many important paths in my life had been chosen in a more coincidental way.
From the minute he gets to the island every single decision he takes has to comply to the laws of nature. This is something is not apparent when you live in a society but the truth is that you are as confined as he was in the island. There is a beautiful shot of him at the top of the hill overlooking everywhere and only seeing the ocean, it makes you feel so insignificant and powerless.
You want to believe you are the owner of your destiny but you aren't. Life can and will take you to places you never expected to be.
I might be in a minority here, but I really like this movie. Without saying much it speaks a thousand words to me.
I am extremely grateful to everyone who participated in creating this movie and I am glad they did it as real as possible, no music on the background to dramatize scenes in the island. Tom Hanks never overplayed the part and I know I would go through the same feelings if I was in the same situation.
PS: I did cry for Wilson
Movie Review: my favorite way to pass out Summary: 5 Stars
Tom gives such a tremendo... what the hell am I saying... this movie is perfect for those nights where you just want to close your eyes and drift off to sleep to the sound of the ocean. Tom's infrequent, frantic outbursts only stir imagery of a better world where people like Tom are tortured and left to die on a island filled with no scripts. Oh how I long for just 4 more years of no Hanks films.... aye but it tis the way of the beast. But seriously - hanks can go to hell, other than that one of my favorite movies.
Movie Review: Excellent Quailty.. Excellent Movie..Double Thumbs Up Summary: 5 Stars
Everytime I watched the epic of Tom Hanks; Castaway, it seems like the first time!
It never stopped of being a really amazing... When Hanks finally leave island, but gets stranded in the middle of the endless ocean, loses Wilson, and succumbs to his destiny by throwing his raft's paddles away... you can see and feel how deep that thought was... and the message: Never Surrender unless you have done your VERY BEST,,and you might, still, get the best out of that!
Movie Review: Brings forth your emotions Summary: 5 Stars
Usually I only bring out an amazon comment when I dislike something. Just a few minutes ago I was able to watch this movie on cable. Sometimes you have to give credit where its due. The diversity of emotions felt during the viewing was amazing. It's an old movie, most people have probably seen this but it's still so good and honest. These types of movies are what Hollywood should be producing.
