I watched captains and the kings at tv in the 70s and it was so emotional
to see it again now.
A perfect Ritchard Jordan under a great production even for todays standards.
And so many great actors.
The quality of the dvds is perfect. The colours better then 30 years i saw it.
Congratulations!You did a great job!
Movie Review: This mini-series is AWESOME!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been waiting for this TV mini-series to be released on DVD
for many years and I am truly thrilled that it is about to happen.
I watched Captains and the Kings when it aired on TV in 1976
and thought it was one of the best mini-series produced. Also,
I read the book while watching the mini-series and it was great.
Movie Review: A Classic Mini-series Summary: 5 Stars
For a realistic view of the lot of Irish immigrants in the nineteenth century, this series is excellent. However, one must take with a grain of salt the idea of a conspiracy among oil tycoons and bankers and like people to control the government through bribery or assassination. Taylor Caldwell always was a bit suspicious of anyone with power.
Movie Review: Memories! Summary: 5 Stars
I remembered this from first seeing it in 1976 and have been looking for it since. When it arrived I viewed it over 3 nights and, although it didn't quite live up to my memories, it is still excellent. From an era before CGI, the production values are of a high order, the plot is interesting and the acting mostly superb.
Movie Review: One of the best TV miniseries ever! Summary: 5 Stars
As much as I enjoyed "Rich Man, Poor Man", I also enjoyed Captains and the Kings. Our family stayed home every night to watch CATKs, which had a standout cast. Had poor Richard Jordan not been murdered by the tobacco pushers and their weapon of mass destruction, he would still be entertaining everyone today!
