Movie Reviews of Captains and the Kings

Movie Review: CAPTAINS AND THE KINGS
Summary: 5 Stars

POWERFULL STORY AND TIMELESS FACT, HOW SUPER RICH PEOPLE DESTROY THEIR LIVES AND THOSE AROUND THEM IN PURSUIT OF MONEY, POWER AND POLITICAL CONTROL. CLEVER PORTRAY OF HOW SUPER RICH, MONEY AND POLITICS EMPOWER FEW AND EXPLOIT THE REST. THE MOVIE SHOWS HOW DIFFERENT POLITICIANS FROM DIFFERENT POLITICAL PARTIES SERVE THE SAME MASTERS. IT'S TIMELESS BECAUSE IT APPLIES TO HISTORY OF HUMAN KIND AND NOT ONLY TO THE END OF 19TH CENTURY OR EVEN TODAY!!! IT SMACKS IN FACE OF "CONSPIRACY THEORY" OF VERY FEW THAT CONTROL THE WHOLE WORLD. WATCH IT, YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED.

Movie Review: Can't stop watching once you start
Summary: 5 Stars

Richard Jordan had a way of grabbing the screen whenever he was on it, and he and everyone else in the cast makes this a series you'd better start watching early in the day. I remember when it aired, nobody could wait for the next episode - it was almost as wild as waiting for the last episode of "The Fugitive." The scenes between Jordan and Henry Fonda are spellbinding in particular, and the very last scene of the series makes you really rethink some of your own priorities. Well-written, very well-acted, genuinely gripping stuff.

Movie Review: One of the Best TV Mini-series Ever
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been waiting for this mini-series to be released on DVD. Captains and the Kings made the late Richard Jordan a star. It also featured a very young and talented Blair Brown. The cast had Patty Duke, Henry Fonda ( a memorable cameo) Perry King, and the late Vic Morrow. It is clear that the Armaugh clan was losely based on the Kennedy family. I just love it. It was as good as Centennial, Rich Man, Poor Man, the CBS miniseries Chiefs with Charlton Heston. I have already pre-ordered my copy... A 5 STAR EPIC

Movie Review: Class
Summary: 5 Stars

Historically intriguing -- amazing character studies -- some brilliant performances -- a story completely unique. And am I correct . . . wasn't the author found dead after submitting the manuscript against pressure not to do so? It seems this was all in the papers, etc. Too close to the Kennedy secrets, etc. Anyway, this mini series was one of the first and was truly a milestone in all categories. A loooong story does not a mini-series make: Captains and Kings is THE mini-series. Jeann Miltier

Movie Review: Captains and the Kings
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this very quickly. I have yet to watch it but I remember how great it was when it appeared on the Best Sellers series on NBC back in the day. Told as only good stories should be told, in mini series format, it is filled with excitement, romance, danger, etc. Richard Jordan is simply excellent and was born to play the role of Joseph Armagh. For those of you that enjoy very well written and superbly acted period pieces with timeless themes, I highly recommend Captains and the Kings.
