Movie Reviews of Captain JanuaryMovie Review: Enchanting and delightful! Summary: 5 Stars
This enchanting tail about an orphan adopted by an old sea captain will capture your heart and your family's heart. In another heart warming and spectacularly acted film by Ms Temple, you won't want to miss a single moment. Why not get family values back and start watching these with your children instead of putting them on the computer?
Great dancing scenes from some famous actors and of course the usual singing round this great film out! I wish they made like this today!
Movie Review: Great movie Summary: 5 Stars
I love the Shirley Temple movies, with the songs, dancing, and happy endings. I remembered this one, which takes place in a lighthouse, and I wanted to add it to my movie collection. There's laughter when she is learning for an exam for placement in school, and even more when she takes the exam. And there's tears when the lighthouse is automated and Shirley's relatives are found and she is separated from Cap. But, as in all her movies, everything works out in the end!

Movie Review: An Oldie but Goodie Summary: 5 Stars
I had been waiting a long time for Amazon to get this movie in on DVD. As soon as they got it, they sent me notice and I bought it. It is a cute movie. Makes me remember the days when I was a little girl and watched the Shirley Temple Theater every Sunday with my big sister. Most people remember the song in the movie, "At the Codfish Ball", but my favorite is "The Right Somebody to Love." Good family movie. Kids need more like this these days.
Movie Review: Typical Temple Movie - Which Means Feel-Good Fun Summary: 4 Stars
Here's another "cute" Shirley Temple movie with interesting characters and a decent share of good song-and-dance numbers. The story is similar to a few other Temple films in which a nasty person takes Shirley away from the good people but the good guys prevail in the end. It was a tried-and-true formula in the Temple movies.
Here, the "villain" is truant officer (Sara Haden) who wants to take Shirley away from good guy "Captain January" (Guy Kibbe). Kibbe and Slim Summerville are fun to watch as peers and friends who squabble all the time. Haden is effective in her role because you just want to slap that woman!
Shirley and Buddy Ebsen team up for a very entertaining song-and-dance routine to "The Codfish Ball," the best song in the movie. All in all, it's the normal Temple movie that provides good feelings, something we viewers always need.
