Movie Review: Robert D. is no match for Robert M.!

Like they always say, the original always outlives the remake. The 1990 Cape Fear with Robert DiNero got great reviews but it doesn't compare to the classic. DiNero's a fine actor but he didn't capture the mysterious quality Robert Mitchem did in this version. DiNero's character was too cocky and came off more like a dweeb than someone you should be frightened of. The plot was excellent. The acting was superb. This is a movie that proves a remake cannot do the original premise justice. Get this movie!Movie Review: Keeps you on the edge of your seat...

This movie scared me to death the first time I saw it. I could hardly keep my eyes on the screen at the end! Robert Mitchum gave me chills throughout! I never looked at him the same way in anything else. It sounds rediculous with all of todays new ways to make things scary that this should effect me so much but it really does. It's a classic and it's great! It's one of those thrillers you can watch again and again and even on your 10th time you're on the edge of your seat!Movie Review: Heart stoppingly thrilling

This is still a tremedously powerful and brilliant film . From its superb cast , which includes Martin Balsam and Telly Savalas (with hair) in superb support , to its brilliant director Director J. Lee Thompson . I revisited this with my elderly parents today and it took our collective breath away . Still very provocative to this day owing to the remarkable screenwriting of James R. Webb . Truly required ownership (to my mind) for Cinema Retro folk .Movie Review: DeNiro has nothing on Mitchum

Much more realistic than the remake. Robert Mitchum's (perhaps the coolest actor ever) Max Cady exudes evil without the creepy, twistedness of Robert DeNiro's. And Mitchum does it without that annoying, fake accent DeNiro affects.Movie Review: WAY Better Than The Remake

They just don't make 'em like Robert Mitchum & Gregory Peck anymore!!!!! This is one of my all-time favorite movies, way better than the remake! You've never loved a bad guy more than Mitchum in this movie!
