Movie Reviews of Candy Land - The Great Lollipop Adventure

Movie Review: sweetly entertaining for a 2 1/2 year old
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this video for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She is very into the music and tries to sing along and even mimic the movements that some of the characters are making. The plotline is simple enough for her to follow without her becoming disinterested. The colors are bright and vibrant and she really likes how "happy" everything looks. The ending scares her. she doesn't like it when people are being mean to each other. I had to explain to her what was going on. Overall the characters are funny and loveable.

If you are looking for a grade A movie quality film this is not it. This is a fun rainy day movie that is ok to an adult watching it.

Movie Review: Crude-looking; fine for small kids. But beware of ads!
Summary: 3 Stars

My four-year-old loves this DVD. It's very colorful, and the shallow story is simple enough for him to follow. Animation quality is mediocre, only slightly better than current Saturday morning fare (though the backgrounds are nice).

The worst feature is the introduction, which features over 10 minutes of commercials for other DVDs. You cannot use the MENU button to skip these advertisements! You have to fast-forward over them manually. THIS IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I've made a copy disc to eliminate this problem, but most users will have to sit through the obnoxious spam ads over and over again. BAD PUBLISHER. NO DONUT.

Movie Review: This Be Called a Song
Summary: 4 Stars

Hey, don't dis this movie because believe it or not, it's a keeper! I took my friend's daughter's to see it a few weekends ago, and I agreed with their first reaction after it ended: "Holy Moses!" Sure, the animation is not up to Pixar standards. But there are surprisingly good jokes, lots of spine-tingling thrills (don't let the super-young ones see the evil Lord Licorice!), and basically a family-friendly good time that you will definitely want to replay over and over again. My friend's daughter's are basically teenagers, but after the movie they were inpired to break out the old board game and have a "Candyland" tournament. I would've participated but I had a nasty stye that was gumming up my eyelid.
