Movie Reviews of CandleshoeMovie Review: Adorable. Summary: 5 Stars
Other reviewers have analyzed the acting and actors in their reviews much better than I can. This movie is about a young street kid who is plucked off the streets, trained to imitate what a young girl who was kidnapped many years ago might have acted like if she belonged the rich set. She does it because she will be earning a good chunk of money doing this imitating if she can pass off and fool an old lady into thinking she really is the lost heir. After several capers and interesting experiences this young girl learns about family, truth, and being true to yourself.
This is one of my most favorite Disney movies ever. It is adorable with a nice story line. The acting is wonderful, the setting is amazing, the story is special.
Enjoy.
Movie Review: Young Foster makes this movie awesome Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not a big fan of old live action Disney movie (or new ones for that matter) but this one is a keeper. My younger siblings were watching it for the first time and I had nothing better to do so I did too. I'm glad I did.
Jodie Foster is absolutely FANTASTIC as Casey, a cynical (albeit young), orphan with a lot of street smarts. David Niven provides genuine humor with his numerous roles. I'm not going to say what happens, because if you have already seen it you already know, and if you haven't, you should. Suffice it to say that despite a possibly lame fight scene at the end, this movie definitely deserves five stars.
Movie Review: it changed my entire life! Summary: 5 Stars
i remember very clearly when i saw the preview for this movie, when i was a kid. until that moment, when jodie foster ran down the street and threw a banana peel in a mailbox, i'd never found a female person (celebrity or otherwise) who could make me feel good about being a girl. i loathed all female vocalists and all actresses, and the actual females in my life weren't that much better. jodie foster was the first of several young actresses to change my world. it was several years before i actually got to see the movie but i loved it. i saw it again as an adult and still thought it was adorable.
Movie Review: Candleshoe Summary: 5 Stars
What a wonderful fun movie. Helen Hayes is ever the great lady. She portays a widow who has a large english castle who has lost most of her family and is looking for her granddaughter. There is a villain who is trying to steal the family treasure that even the family doesn't know they have hidden somewhere. All kinds of escapades are going on as the household tries to save the castle. David Niven play a variety of parts and Jodie Foster plays a tomboyish part. Great family movie and lots of laughs. 5 star family/childrens mystery movie
Movie Review: a GEM Summary: 5 Stars
I first saw the film twelve years ago as a child and since then 40 times. I love it. It's a perfect family film without any violance and with pretty good actors. I must admit, that Jodie Foster now is not one of my favorite actresses but in this film (and in the Freaky Friday of course) she is perfect for the role as well certainly Helen Hayes, David Niven and Leo McKern. Interesting plot, humour, no blood, sensational actors: do you need more?!
