Movie Review: Below Average!
Summary: 2 Stars
I expected a full documentary but all I saw was something incomplete. What about Calvin's childhood and his family in general? At what age did he first consider selling drugs? The details aren't thorough and you're never informed as to the type of person he is/was. There is no timeline and the events are sporadic in detail. Although Pee Wee Kirkland makes an appearance, he hardly reveals anything pertaining to Calvin's life. And weren't there any old-timers, more than the few who were interviewed, within Calvin's age group who could vouch for him? I'm tired of these mediocre directors and writers shelling out mediocre projects as if they're aware as to what the true art of it is. Including brief clips from the film New Jack City didn't help it either. Calvin's story being brought to light is one thing but this DVD provides no organization nor depth whatsover.
