Movie Review: It's Good If You Don't Compare It To The First Movie
Summary: 4 Stars

I know that I am in the definite minority here, but I like this movie. The only problem in this movie for me is Dan
Akyroid(spell?) He is very annoying, stupid, and not funny, and he is the reason I give this movie 4 stars, instead of 5. I like this movie very much. I know it doesn't even compare to the first, "Caddyshack," which is one of my favorite movies, but don't compare it to the first movie and, "Caddyshack II," is good. If you can watch this movie for what it is, and stop comparing it to the first, "Caddyshack," movie you will see that this movie is not so bad after all.

Movie Review: It would have been better if I hadn't seen the first one.
Summary: 3 Stars

This movie honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it's pretty weak. Jackie Mason's one liners, the gophers eating habits, and Ty Webb's stupidity was funny in this movie. They really brought the film up higher than it would have been. However, since I've seen the first one, this movie really didn't win my favor. The original cast of characters was absent in this movie, the familiar setting of the Bushwood Country Club and golf course were not to be found, and the gopher had an uncomfortably different voice (it also gained a few extra pounds, but that's a different story). The only member of the original cast that returned to do "Caddyshack 2" was Chevy Chase, reprising his role as a more "out there" Ty Webb. The way they potrayed his character in this movie was very funny and refreshing, but he was much more down to earth in the first one, and a lot less weird. Jackie Mason's character sort of replaces Rodney Dangerfeild's character in the first one: a crude newcomer seeking to buy the club from the snobby owners. He does an okay job, but no one can replace Rodney. Robert Stack's character sort of replaces Ted Knight's character in the first one: a snobby high roller in charge of the club who will do anything he can to keep the newcomer from buying it. And of course, the thing I found most disappointing in this movie was Dan Akroyd's character, who desperately tried to replace Bill Murray's "Karl" from the first movie, but failed so badly. He tries to talk the same way Karl would talk, except he does it much higher. Just imagine that! Dan Akroyd trying to talk like Karl, except doing it at a much higher tone of voice. It really gets annoying. Dan Akroyd also doesn't fit in with the rest of the cast. This movie would have been much better if it hadn't have been a sequel to "Caddyshack." It doesn't even show a caddy shack in the movie! Even though that may not be a big deal, it expresses the way that I feel. If you have never seen the original "Caddyshack" or don't intend to, this more mild film should be viewed for satisfaction. However, if you love the movie "Caddyshack" just like I do, than prepare to be disappointed, because this movie is just not good enough. However, I give it credit for being an okay movie by itself. So no matter who you are, I at least recommend that you watch this movie once, just for the fun of it.

Movie Review: Surprisingly great (call the insane asylum if you must)
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm going to break the seemingly endless streak of spiteful reviews here. I thought this was as good, if not (gasp) even better than the original, even if most of the original cast is gone. This time, Jackie Mason plays Jack Hartounian, a middle-aged wise-cracking but well-meaning Jewish guy. His daughter Kate wants him to join Bushwood, an exclusive Country Club filled with snobby members, who reject his membership. Robert Stack (the Unsolved Mysteries host) is Chandler Young, the club president. At first they get along, but before long, Chandler has him kicked out of the club. Along the way Jack also has a love interest, Elizabeth, another club member (Dyan Cannon, who was 51 when this was filmed!).

How this started is Jack wants to build some apartments near the golf course. Longtime club members oppose this and don't want any 'blue-collar bums' moving in. In one hilarious scene Jack's lawyer Peter Blunt (Randy Quaid) goes crazy and starts yelling and threatening Chandler's also snobby son Todd, and another lawyer. This sets the wheels in motion for them to be permanently against Jack and deny his membership.

In a desperate move, Jack pays a visit to Ty Webb (Chevy Chase) who returns from the original. He's again likable but a little dimwitted. The two of them are friends. Ty is at least part owner of Bushwood. Jack buys the club and that's when the fun really begins. He turns it into a full length amusement park/golf course, with many things you'd see in Miniature golf (i.e. windmills, doors that open and close). This change gets Kate angry at him, since she liked the Country Club aspect as opposed to 'Coney Island'.

Meanwhile, Chandler isn't done yet. He meets up with Tom Everett (Dan Aykroyd) a Roach Coach driver, with some kind of classified military background. He talks in a higher-pitched, kind of whiny voice (which makes it funnier, at least I think) he's not that bright though. After Everett accidently blows up Chandler's Rolls Royce instead of Jack's (they were both white), the two sides do a final battle by playing a good ol' 18 holes against each other.

This movie also co-stars the cute but also snobby Miffy Young as Kate's friend and Chandler's daughter. This is really noteworthy because she's played by Chynna Philips, just barely before Wilson-Philips hit big (anyone remember "Hold On"?)I already know I'm in the minority, but I obviously love this film. I thought the plot was pretty easy to understand, whereas the first took a few times to get everything. The jokes were less complicated too. I actually saw this one first, so I wasn't comparing it to the original.

Movie Review: The Gopher made it worth watching
Summary: 1 Stars

Caddyshack 2 is such a bad movie. The funny little gopher was funny to watch but everything else was horrible. This movie is full of senior actors and this has to be all of their worst work. Robert Stack is somewhat funny but not near of what he was like in Airplane. The worst has to be Dan Aykroyd he is an absolute terrible addition to the movie. He is a pretty good actor but I could not believe he acted this way in this movie. His role is so annoying and he sounds terrible and unfunny. This movie is an embarrasing mess to watch. Brace yourself for Dan Aykroyd though he is at his worst at a time where he was at the heat of his acting career.
