Movie Reviews of Cabin FeverMovie Review: Smart/Funny/Gross HORROR AT IT'S BEST Summary: 5 Stars
I skirted this movie for quite a while thinking that a horror movie without a "killer" can't be very entertaining. I was wrong. This movie starts funny and aloof, then it starts down a surprising chain of events that only a true fan of the genre could diabolically invent. Eli Roth creates a world that harkens back to the late 70's and early 80's horror movies, without ever feeling like he is ripping them off. The end of the movie had me laughing out loud and jumping out of my chair with excitement. The DVD is packed full of great extras including a documentary, the Rotten Fruit shorts, some funny "cuts" of the movie, and my personal favorite, Pancakes, the best "music video" I have ever seen. All in all this one hell of a package. A great story with many twists and turns, a lot of gore, laughs, and most of all, a little nudity. Add that to great extras and you have a must own. All fans of horror should a least give this movie a try, no matter what your reservations, I did.
Movie Review: What a romp!! Summary: 5 Stars
This has to be one of the best movies of 2003....and one of the most underrated! I remember laughing myself silly when I saw this in the theater...and I was so eager to get the DVD! When I brought it home yesterday, I just had to watch it again. It was so much better the second time. While I don't care much for horror flicks, this movie just had something...genuine. I think the blending of nasty bacterial disease, along with possessed hillbillies and a stoned police officer just took the cake! Pancakes, that is!!! While the story is pretty predictable, and it is funny in spots, there are serious portions too. The way in which the friends treated each other once they became ill did give us a glimpse into the way human nature operates, and it shows our tendency to revert to fight-flight mechanisms when we get challenged by something out of our control. That aside, this is just a fun, great movie! Give this one a chance...you won't be disappointed at all!
Movie Review: take a sip, you may just like it Summary: 5 Stars
Thsi is honestly a very interesting movie. It's bleak existentialism and punk rock outlook on vanity and death add a new wave sort of edge to the horror genre, and also a breath of fresh air (odd because of all the nods to it's predecessors) to a type of film that has left any sence of meaning behind. This is the first film i have seen in this genre in several years, maybe more, that isn't just a monster/killer out to stab some horny teens.
Thi film does what the horror flicks were doing years ago; it takes the cookie cutter image (teens on vacation, horny, angsty, city brats getting lost and hunted down) and it adds the color, the themes, the metaphore.
i would never go so far as to say that this is an art film by any stretch, but it is not a dumb one either and that needs to be respected. it is a well made, run-of-the-mill that got that extra bit of care that horror has been missing for so long.
Movie Review: Cabin Fever Summary: 5 Stars
Jeff,Karen,Paul,Mercy and Bert embark on a vocation deep into the mountains. With the top down and the music up,they drive to a remote cabin to enjoy their last days of decadence after college. Then somebody gets sick. Karen's skin starts to bubble and burn as something grows inside her, tunneling beneath her flesh. As the others try to save her, they look at one another and realize that any one of them could be next. One by one they turn on each other and the rest of the town and realize that the disease is the least of their problems.

Movie Review: Hey Doctor, I have this sore on my lip... Summary: 5 Stars
If you are into puerile humor, BUY NOW!!! You need to watch the DVD special features FIRST!!!!! I did not do so and was a bit disgusted and bewildered by the actual film. As a teaser, "Pancakes"-Outrageous mullet-headed-demented child actor from the film does martial arts kata complete with bo-staff to an old punk song called "Gay Bar". Absolutely hysterical!!! I will not spoil the other special features "Chick Vision", "Cabin Fever-The Family Version", and the piece de resistance "The Rotten Fruit". If you like South Park and outrageously irreverent humor, "The Rotten Fruit" is for you. In my humble opinion, the special features alone are worth the cost of the DVD. The director of this film and the co-creator of "The Rotten Fruit" Eli Roth is one clever individual, and on the official "The rotten fruit" website (all one word for url), there is a note stating that a full DVD of "The Rotten Fruit" is on it's way!!!
