Movie Reviews of Cabaret

Movie Review: High Point for Minnelli AND Musicals in General
Summary: 5 Stars

Seedy, risqué, racy, raunchy, immoral, and adult oriented, but undeniably a masterpiece. The direction, costuming, choreography, musical score, and acting are as good as it gets. Some may fault this film for subject matter, but not for artistry. Because of its themes, this film will not be for everyone. I am amazed that such a gritty slice of life could be portrayed in a PG format. Once seen, Joel Grey's perfomance cannot be forgotten.

Movie Review: Enduring entertainment
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw Cabaret many years ago and loved it. After watching it again on DVD the other evening, I realized it's just as entertaining now as it was then because it hasn't lost its freshness. Another realization was that the anti-intolerance message is just as pertinent today as it was then. In fact, it may be even more important today to realize the danger in mob psychology. A message with great music and a love story!!! What a deal.

Movie Review: TIRED OF WAITING, BUT I'LL WAIT NONETHELESS
Summary: 5 Stars

I'll make it short: one of the top films of the 70s; one of the most disappointing DVDs of the 2000s. But I can't bring myself to rant; WB came to the rescue on ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, DELIVERANCE, NETWORK, and DOG DAY AFTERNOON, to mention a few. Until they rescue CABARET from a similarly shoddy series of editions, I'll wait before giving them my money for this one. But I have faith. C'mon, 'Bros.!

Movie Review: One of the most brilliant musicals ever made!
Summary: 5 Stars

The definitive version of Sally Bowles, the original Christopher Isherwood's 1939 book about life in Pre War II in Berlin. Liza Minelli proved she could act better than her mother (Judy Garland) . Minelli made a bravura performance and the inspired rapture of Bob Fosse makes of this film an absolute must to acquire it.

Movie Review: I'm going like Elsie!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie shows Berlin at it's finest/Darkest hour. Even with a war going on people still managed to have a great time and forget about the dark cloud above their heads. Liza as Sally Bowles was pure genius. Whenever you have self doubt watch this movie and u will have a whole new look on how u live ur life....
