The 5 forms are C, A, G, E, and D. What's that spell? Caged. Each one of these chords can be turned into a barre (a.k.a. "bar chord") and moved around the fretboard. Each barre chord can be played as an arpeggio pattern which includes even more notes. These arpeggio patterns can then be broken up into all sorts of unique shapes and interesting voicings. These are the forms that all guitar chords stem from. Great rhythm guitar players don't necessarily use strange chords, they just know how to freshen up common progressions with different shapes and voicings.
