Movie Reviews of Burn Notice: Season One

Movie Review: Great new series to watch. Funny, charming, sexy.
Summary: 5 Stars

The uncharacteristically lean protagonist has much more smarts than muscle but seems to get by just fine in hand to hand with some wicked martial arts skills and quick reflexes. The interaction between his female bad girl on again off again lover and partner in "good crime" is funny, sexy, and so thin and beautiful you want to hate her but love her instead. His hilarious alcoholic washed up ex-seal side kick brings humor to the role but in all honestly could use a little better writing/acting. The best relationship and character has to been the protagonist's mother who is just a hoot.

If you enjoy authors like Janet Evonovich (Stephanie Plum), Harlan Coben (Myron Bolitar), and similar genres of who done it crime fighters with dysfunctional friends and family but lots of heart, you will enjoy this series.

Movie Review: One of the best action/comedies in several years
Summary: 5 Stars

Burn Notice is an action/comedy with a small side of romance to round out the mix.
Where similar shows fail in one or more ways, Burn Notice is close to flawless. The writing is smart and funny, the casting is spot-on, and the production values are
very, very good for a basic cable series. The four main characters are all likable
and sympathetic. For a "smart" show with well written dialogue, it's exceptional in that the dialogue seems focused on being entertaining rather than being a misguided effort to prove to the world just how clever the writers are. This is truly a show that has broad appeal -- I just sent my 86 year old Grandmother a set of dvds -- without pandering to achieve that status. I just hope that this excellent freshman outing is followed by a sophomore slump.

Movie Review: Smart spy show with great characters.
Summary: 5 Stars

USA network is looking better and better. When the other networks brings out more reality shows, CSI copies, hospital dramas, USA got this spy show.
Jeffrey Donovan got this spy character down. His sly laughs, gray suits, and smart comebacks works perfectly.
Bruce Campbell is a welcoming sight in this show. Everyone knows a retired worker that is a little bitter, and a little bit of a loser. He is completely that character.
Gabrielle Anwar also got the happy trigger ex-girlfriend right. She didn't play this character to be weak or vulnerable.
This show's writing is smart, well crafted, well acted and doesn't insult the viewer's intelligent (no not that I'm smart, actually a dumb dumb). So, if you are bored of all the same old, same old... I highly recommend this show.

Movie Review: *A summer to remembeR!
Summary: 5 Stars

After the CW canceled one of my favorite shows(Veronica Mars) and ended another one(Gilmore Girls), I was left with nothing to watch. I had to admit that I saw BURN NOTICE because of all the publicity they did for it, I'm glad I tuned in. From the 1st. episode I was hooked. Michael Westen and comp. are a great cast, the chemistry is wonderful, this show takes you away and that's sign of a good show. I loved it because it has the action and detective work of Veronica Mars but so much more, and the charm and wittiness of Gilmore Girls. Simple BURN NOTICE is: smart, witty, and action packed. What else can be said about a great show... The only but thing I can say it's that I had to wait a whole year to see a new season, but that is more a network problem. Thanks USA finally something good to watch.

Movie Review: pretty good for the family too
Summary: 5 Stars

We didn't get into watching burn notice on TV until just this season (#2). But now we are hooked and can't wait til new episodes start this summer. I bought season one for my husband mostly, but my 2 1/2 yr old son loves to snuggle with his dad and watch "Michael Weston Movie". It's almost McGyver-like in that he's always making things out of hardware store finds to get out of situations. There's very little sex - just women in bikini's, but when you're in florida, that's what you see anyways. It has some dry humor, not bad swearing, and the good guy always gets the bad guy. We like it a lot. I'll probably end up buying another for my dad for father's day. He doesn't have cable, but has picked up an episode or 2 from being on the road a lot. He was also a big McGyver fan.
