Movie Review: Burn Notice Season One
Summary: 5 Stars

Michael Weston. This is a show I found on USA and looked very intriguing. Former spy, burned by an unknown, left in Miami on his own vices, forced to use his talents to help people while working on finding out the one who burned him and put him on this track. Like a 'Prisoner' with Miami as his village, each time he goes about to find an answer he is stonewalled. At the end of Season 1, Michael got in a car and drove to a spot where he was picked up and I'm assuming will either meet his Burner or wind up in another new location. All in all losing the great support he got from Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell(always welcomed) and Sharon Gless. My favorite ep was the one where Michael and Vi had some what I thought was some harmless hand to hand that suddenly turned serious and then seriously sexy for the two of them. It's twists like those that make this show more than a summertime fling. Burn Notice is definitely a show to pick up on DVD. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Movie Review: Burn Notice
Summary: 5 Stars

Burn Notice season one is the eighth TV series DVD boxed set I have bought. Actually the ninth as well, since I have already ordered the 2nd season too. I watched season one over the course of two days, one being my day off. I've never "burned" through a TV series so quickly. I just could not stop watching it. It is like a good book that you cannot put down. You just keep turning the pages, one chapter leading to the next episode.
The stories and dialogue are well written. The actors seem to enjoy playing their characters and it has really been a joy to watch. I first caught the series on regular tv reruns. It just happened at a time when i was searching for a tv series to buy, so I decided to try Burn Notice out. Very glad I did. Ok, the first season is only 12 episodes but still that is a lot of tv to watch in just 2 days. So if you decided to get Burn Notice be sure you have some free time, otherwise there might be trouble.

Movie Review: Best New Series in a long time
Summary: 5 Stars

Burn Notice is an excellent take on the classic detective story. The main character, cut off by the government he used to work for reasons unknown, is dumped in Miami and left to fend for himself.

The show has a great arc that focus' on the Burn Notice itself, but each episode he handles some other problem that is either in his way or lands on his lap. In many instances these give him the resources and further connection to continue his inquires into his own burn notice, but occasionally they are for much more important things like eating, impressing his girlfriend and getting his mom off his back.

The show is a solid mix of great elements the detective genre. Our hero is One part James Bond, one part Magnum PI, and a dash of Bogart. Its setting is the bastard child of John D McDonald and Girls Gone Wild. The Narrative style is mission impossible meets Alton Brown.

In Short, Watch it. Its amazing.

Movie Review: Surprisingly good
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased "Burn Notice" because I'm a fan of Bruce Campbell, expecting it to be a so-so experience with a few laughs provided by Mr. Campbell, but I was proven delightfully wrong. It turned out to be a proper, pucker, funny, yet somehow not tacky, television series.

It's cleverly written without being brilliant, it's well acted by well casted actors (they may look like stereotypes, but they're good stereotypes), well shot and well produced. The score is perhaps leaning a bit too much towards the rap/hip-hop/dancy sort of thing, but I reckon that it is probably very Miamish (and thus adding to the overall picture, not subtracting from it).

It's not a barrel of lauhgs, but you get to smile quite ofte. It's not full-on action, but there are plenty of bullets flying. It's not Shakespeare, but light drama is provided.

In short "Burn Notice" is really entertaining and quite harmless, if a bit addictive.

Movie Review: Burn Baby Burn
Summary: 5 Stars

The foremost reason that I even sat down to watch this show is that I was a fan of Bruce Campbell. I hadn't really seen anything with Jeffrey Donovan before and I was a little bit familiar with Gabrielle Anwar (during her time on The Tudors). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this show and the cast. It was a fun show to watch during the summer! It had everything from fun to laughs to action to drama to romance to -- you name it!

The DVDs themselves are nicely packaged with a beautiful cover. I am very pleased thus far with the special features. I did listen to a few of the commentaries and have to admit that they definitely add to the show and are funny! It's nice to hear the thoughts of filming certain scenes from Jeffrey Donovan, Sharon Gless, and Gabrielle Anwar. I look for to the second season (and hopefully more seasons to come!)

I highly recommend this show (and DVDs) are a great summer treat.
