Movie Reviews of Burn Notice: Season OneMovie Review: Burn Notice burns into favorite shows list Summary: 5 Stars
My mom mentioned Burn Notice to me one day, and my first thought was: please: not another show. I was flipping through the channels one day while bored at home and saw that Burn Notice was on. I started to watch it but because the episode was in the middle of season one, I was completely lost about what was going on. While I was on Christmas break, I noticed that my mom had bought the first season so one afternoon, I plugged the first disc into my computer.
I didn't realize what a surprise I was in for!
Burn Notice is full of wit, humor, and suspense. there was not one espisode that I didn't end up chuckling. This show is a breath of fresh air! Michael Weston is your modern day McGuyver. His girlfriend has got some spunk: always ready to take on a job that Weston asks her and his sidekick Sam is hilarious: always ready to lighten the mood in a dangerous situation. These three make a dynamic trio.
If you are impressed with Monk, Psych, or even NCIS, you will be even more impressed with Burn Notice. You'll find yourself addicted to this show even before you know it!
Movie Review: Five Stars - spoilers may follow Summary: 5 Stars
Who would think with all the spy movies and tv shows out there USA could come up with a new one that's keeps you laughing through every episode? Burn Notice is incredably funny with its voice overs usually boring but the lead charactor is so funny with his wry deadpan wit all from his own perspect which is hilarous. Michael was a spy right up until he was burned and the only place he can go is home to Miami with no job, no money and nothing except being watched constantly and haressed by his mother. Michael keeps him busy with various PI jobs from helping senior citzens who've been cheated to a store owner who's been threatened by the local mob each ep. is extremely funny and half the fun is watching how Michael goes about completing each job its hard to pick the best one. All along the way he gives advice like the right time to bail out of a car before the police show up. Michael has the help of his friend Sam a semi retired spy and his ex-girlfriend Fiona who's lethel. All the while Michael keeps trying to find out who burned him and why. Everyone should be watching this show.
Movie Review: A really great show if someone's looking for drama AND comedy... Summary: 5 Stars
I had heard raves about this show from my best friend, and hadn't watched it when it first aired on USA. I ended up renting the first season from Netflix and loved it! Great show, great writing and great acting by the three leads...Jeffrey Donovan as Michael Westin, Gabrielle Anwar as Fiona Glennane and Bruce Campbell as the campy Sam Axe.
The show is set in beautiful Miami, and really looks fabulous in HD, so definitely do yourselves a favor and snap up the Blu-ray set for Season 2. Michael is a former spy who was burned, as he explains in the opener, spies don't get fired, they get burned. He's trying to find out who burned him and why, and in the meantime, has to do odd jobs helping the ``downtrodden'' people in the community to make ends meet.
A great show in terms of the action and it has a very wry sense of humor. I like to describe this show as ``dramedy''...a combination of drama and comedy. Anyone who has enjoyed other USA shows will definitely like this...call this a modern-day sort-of answer to ``The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'' or ``Get Smart''.
Movie Review: Powerful and Refreshing: An unappologetic leading man Summary: 5 Stars
A WINNER all the way!. The "Rockford Files" meets Old Bond (Sean Connery) with a splash of "Miami Vice" and "McGuyver" thrown in for depth. "Burn Notice" hits scratches the itch many of us have been feeling when Political Correctness worked over the Iconic leading man. Good acting, no holds barred action, and real world like results make this a powerful and exciting thriller. The tactics, and their explanations, suggest under cover operatives who have "been there and done that" are giving input to the script. Further picking a volatile city like Miami and a dysfunctional family unit for the back drop is just perfect to round out the complex lead character. The supporting actors are excellent- and as a whole, this team creates a real treat for those of us who crave intense adventure in a real world setting. BTW where can I get an .mp3 of the theme? This show is going to be the next Miami Vice. Burn Notice's only weakness: The number of re-runs! I can't watch the same show more than twice, so get out there and make more of them.
Movie Review: Burn Notice Sizzles! Summary: 5 Stars
If you like any or all of the following...action, spy tales, humor, great story telling and a sexy Miami backdrop, you'll love this series.
Jeffery Donovan is absolutely perfect as, Michael Weston, the sarcastic spy who's been burned (aka fired) by his government employers and now must find out why he's out. With no money and few contacts, he tracks thin lines of clues on a trail to find out who specifically burned him. In the mean time, he "helps" everyday people in Miami with various problems when they don't want to go to the police.
One of my favorite Michael Weston lines in the series..."I'll see what I can do."
And then he proceeds to amaze and astound us with tidbits and tips to solve problems using his long studied and vast spy knowledge.
Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless round out the cast as Michael's ex-girlfriend, former FBI buddy and his mother, respectively.
Don't miss this excellent series.
