Movie Reviews of Burn After Reading

Movie Review: watch again and again
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie was so mad and pointless that it was one of the most brilliant movies i have seen in a while. The absurdity of the story along with the nothingness of its conclusion were pointed to so well that its philosophy made perfect sense. The cast is one of the best ensembles ever put together. The comedy and the tragedy were mixed so brilliantly that i was enthusiastic with laughter as much as i was with depression. I understand why a bunch of people who would pay $8.50 to see XXX in the theaters would not like this movie, it is convoluted, twisted, depressing, a little sick and mad and, most of all, induced with complex nothingness. If you are a true coen brothers fan you will love this movie as much as i did.

Movie Review: A Quick Moving Tangle of a Farce of a Spy Spoof
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a convoluted action comedy with a fair amount of blood and gratuitous violence distributed through several dysfunctional romances and a plot on the part of a couple of physical-trainers to engage in international espionage. It is pretty funny. It goes around and around but I don't think anybody actually won. Several people in the story who are trying to figure it all out from the beginning through to the end are left scratching their heads, knowing everything that happened and still wondering what it was all about. Invite someone over, make popcorn.

Movie Review: Subtext
Summary: 5 Stars

Am I mistaken or does a light but nonetheless condemning subtext really exist that encompasses items such as the superficiality and apathy of our society from the loweliest to the highest - the CIA officials' haste to sweep matters under the carpet, without a true attempt to understand; of our arts - some of the plot twists must be purposely and uncomfortably based on our willingness to suspend belief in so many films, books and so forth, which we are expected to take seriously; of our lack of priorities and fundamental loss of our incapacity to communicate?

Movie Review: 10 stars. Best movie for the Coens.
Summary: 5 Stars

The Coen brothers might be on the most ridiculous roll of good movies out of any director/dirctors. This movie continues in outstanding line of great movies. Let's face it comedies suck. There are almost zero funny movies today. The comedies are all forced laughter. Like ok this a funny movies so start laughing. But Burn after reading is genius. The characters are awesome and the ending is fantastic. I was laughing through the whole movie. Loved it loved it loved it. I recomend this movie so much that you should stop what your doing and watch it right now.

Movie Review: Very humorous
Summary: 5 Stars

This lighthearted comedy is full of quirky characters, and a couple dead bodies. Brad Pitt plays a different role than we're used to seeing him in as the silly, airhead gym employee who thinks he's stumbled upon a way for him and a female co-worker to collect a 'reward'. Unfortunately, the owner of a missing c.d. sees the two as a threat and responds violently to any hint of blackmail. All the characters have their own flaws and struggles, which makes them very realistic. A great comedy with many favorite actors.
