Movie Reviews of BulletproofMovie Review: Tough cop. Hostile Witness. Will they ever be able to get along? Summary: 3 Stars
Bulletproof (1996) Damon Wayans (Blankman) and Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore) team up for this ragged but watchable buddy action comedy from director Ernest Dickerson (Surviving the Game). Wayans is an undercover cop who has spent a year befriending two-bit criminal Sandler in order to get closer to Sandler's boss (James Caan). When Wayans moves in to make his bust, it all goes wrong and Sandler accidentally shoots Wayans before escaping. Months later, Sandler is ready to turn himself in, but demands that a recovered Wayans be the cop to do it. Reluctantly, Wayans agrees, and soon they're both clay pigeons for Caan's henchmen. It's a cross between a Lethal Weapon sequel and yet another Saturday Night Live cast movie, and as such isn't exactly seamless. The guys get in some funny lines, but the film goes overboard with the comedy and gets silly too often, especially with all the violence. Sandler wavers between actually acting and doing an extension of his Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore roles, but Wayans is pretty good. All in all, if you like these guys, this will probably serve as entertainment, especially on good ol' home video. Also with James Farentino (Dead and Buried).
Movie Review: AMG Review Summary: 3 Stars
This post-modern comic variation on The Defiant Ones concerns Keats (Damon Wayans), an undercover police detective trying to get the goods on crime kingpin Frank Colton (James Caan). Keats poses as a crook to make friends with one of Colton's underlings, a drug dealer and car thief named Archie Moses (Adam Sandler). Keats is using Archie as part of a sting operation to put Colton away; however, Archie doesn't care for this, and when he finds out Keats's true plan and actual identity, it leads to an altercation that ends with Archie shooting Keats in the head. Several months later, Keats emerges from the hospital with a metal plate in his skull, and he has to bring Archie in. However, now Archie and Keats are both on Colton's enemies list, and the two find themselves on the run in Arizona, trying to outwit Colton's team of assassins, but having Archie on hand doesn't do much good in the outwitting department. Bulletproof was directed by Ernest Dickerson, who got his start as a cinematographer for Spike Lee.
Movie Review: A buddy movie with lots of action Summary: 3 Stars
Adam Sandler appears in an buddy / action movie with Damon Wayans work together as comedians, but not exactly as action stars. This movie is full of action, explosions, gun fights, fighting in general and a more serious Sandler. Damon plays an undercover cop that befriends and later captures the crook Sandler in a big chop shop sting. That is only the start of the movie as then the leader of the chop shop played by James Kahn wants Sander dead for bringing a cop into his crime ring. So during a prisoner transport from a city jail to a prison via plane Kahn's goons intercept Sandler and Damon before the plane fully takes off the ground. The plane then crash lands in a backwoods area where then cop and criminal must avoid thugs while they go back into the city to the police station. Great buddy movie, but neither of them is an action hero.
Movie Review: worth a look Summary: 3 Stars
This movie could have been better, but it works pretty well as an action comedy. It stars Damon Waynes and Adam Sandler, ..so you know they'll be some laughs. Their chemistry however is the best thing about the movie. I won't bore you with a summary, there are other reviews here that do a pretty good job with that.
Movie Review: This is not a comedy movie as I thought! Summary: 3 Stars
You're probably thinking that this is another funny movie. Well, I hate to disappoint you, but no, this is not a funny movie. Though, if you're either Damon or Adam's fan, you might wanna give it a shot.
